5th Grade Field Trip-Junction

Dear Parents and Families,

Please complete the permission slip below:

PERMISSION SLIP-JUNCTION

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share some exciting news about our upcoming 5th-grade Field Day at Ogden Junction. Our students will have the incredible opportunity to enjoy iRock, iFly, FlowRider, and Fat Cats Bowling activities. It’s sure to be a day full of fun and memories for our children.

To make this event possible, we are asking for a minimum contribution of $20 per student. Your support will help cover the costs associated with these fantastic activities and ensure every child can participate.

In the event that we are unable to raise enough funds for the entire 5th grade to attend, rest assured that all money collected will be used towards another engaging field day activity for our 5th graders.

Your generosity and support are sincerely appreciated. Together, we can make this field day a memorable experience for our students. Thank you for being part of our school community and for your continued involvement in your child’s education.

*Donations can be made in the office or with the following link:

https://secureinstantpayments.com/sip/cart/event.php?EID=1468

**Each student will also need a waiver form filled out directly with Ogden Junction to participate. Please use the following link:

Student Council-From Ms. Cook

Thanks to everyone who signed up for Student Council! It was so great meeting everyone in the interviews this week. If you do not see your name on this list, we still think that you’d be perfect for other leadership opportunities next year, and Miss Cook will personally email you with more details about the special opportunity as you showed amazing responsibility and spirit. It was very difficult making this decision, as everyone was fantastic!

Here are the students who will be moving onto the voting round of Student Council elections:

  • Ava Esplin
  • Alexis Petersen
  • Lucy Kearns
  • Kyson Varble
  • Jesse Smart
  • Bridger Chaparro
  • Monroe Mickles
  • Khloe Martinez
  • Payton Jenkins

IF your name is on this list, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING VERY CAREFULLY:

1.  Hang up your posters by 8:15 am on Monday morning where your teachers say that you can.

2.  Please make sure your video is sent to slivingston@questac.org and ecook@questac.org, if you have not already sent it.

3.  Your videos will be shown to all of 5th grade, and students will vote on their top four candidates. These videos will be shown in class on Friday, April 19th.

4. The final four who will be on Student Council next year will be announced on Friday/Saturday of next week.

Thank you!–
Emilia Cook

18-22 March 2024

Welcome to the 4th Quarter! I can’t believe the year has flown by so quickly. This class team is incredible, and I’m so proud of their determination and hard work. They are growing by leaps and bounds. We’re on the countdown to Spring Break (April 1st-5th), and we’re going to make the most of it!

We will be doing RISE benchmark testing in ELA, science, and writing this week and next. I want our team to feel empowered, confident, and prepared to tackle the summative tests in May. This will be a great way to see how far we’ve come. Please check with your child and make sure they have good functioning headphones. If not, please replace them as soon as possible as we will use them every day. Blue light glasses are also a welcome tool if you feel your child could benefit from them.

In math, we will learn about evaluating, writing, and interpreting expressions and the order of operations.

By way of announcement, the 5th grade maturation program will be held Friday, April 12th, in the Q1 cafeteria. Girls will meet from 8:35-9:25 am, and boys will meet from 9:30-10:20 am. Parents are encouraged to make every effort to attend the maturation program with their child! Please make sure the permission slip makes it back as soon as possible.

As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Mrs. Robinson

Jan 29-Feb 2

Welcome to Parent Teacher Conference Week! A reminder that Wednesday and Thursday are early outs (1:10pm), and there is No-School Friday (Teacher work day). PTCs start at 2:00 pm and are in 20-minute appointment times. Please note that if you are late, I may be unable to see you and ask that you reschedule.

In ELA this week, we are continuing our lesson on drama (plays) with a focus on visualizing as we are reading, as well as identifying different characters’ perspectives. I have to say we have some talented students in my class with a future in theater! Never has Grandma J. had so many personalities!

For Math, we are subtracting fractions! We crushed the adding fractions lesson last week and I’m sure we will continue that streak!

Please reach out if you have any questions at all and I look forward to seeing everyone this week!

Mrs. Robinson

Jan 22-26

Hello Parents! It is time for another great week!

Just a reminder that Friday is dollar dress-down day!

This week in math, we will learn how to add fractions! They have been doing very well in math and I know they will grow in this topic as well!

In ELA, we will be working on visualizing and character perspectives. The theme of the stories this week is drama.

I can’t wait for you to see how much your students have grown in reading! The growth is amazing, and I couldn’t be any more proud of this amazing class!

As always, Please let me know if you have any questions! Thank you for everything you do!

Jan 8-12

Families, welcome to another week! Hopefully, your family is enjoying the weekend snow fall! I have told my students they are welcome to wear snow boots and bring a change of shoes in case they don’t want to wear them all day; that way, they will have them for recess and after school as well. We certainly try to avoid wet socks and feet all day!

Reminder: there is no school on January 15 (Monday) for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and then beginning Tuesday, January 16, we will start middle-of-the-year testing. The students will complete their acadience test (reading) as well as IReady placement assessments. If you have any questions at all, please let me know.

Dates to note:

  • 15 Jan-    No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
  • 16-19 Jan- Middle of the Year Testing
  • 26 Jan-  Dollar Dress Down
  • 31 Jan-    Parent-Teacher conferences and Early-out (1:10)
  • 1 Feb-      Parent-Teacher conferences and Early-out (1:10)
  • 2 Feb-    No School-Teacher Work Day

Have a great week, and stay warm!! Mrs. Robinson
