Homework (October 19-22)

Homework this week is due on Thursday, October 22:

1- 
Math Homework:  
*Complete every other problem (alternate between evens and odds) on the worksheets that will be coming home in the blue folder on Monday October 19.  Please check your child’s work for ACCURACY.
     NOTE: Lesson 8 is tricky and your child may need your extra support!  If your child is struggling, have them draw base ten cubes (the orange “rods” and “ones” in the example).  Have them draw an extra ten rod when they need “ten more” or cross off/erase a ten rod when they need “ten less”.  If you have some crafter’s plastic mesh, it can be cut into tens and ones to be used as a manipulative.2015-10-14 15.36.31*Practice your math facts (addition and subtraction) regularly by utilizing any of the math facts activities listed here: Math Facts Activities

*Parents-please initial the “Math Homework” verification sheet attached to the worksheets and turn in on Thursday.
  

2- Reading 20 minutes per day, record on reading log on our Weekly Homework form. There are several sources for reading: “Reading for all Learners” also known as”Buddy books” from school, books from home or the public library and our online reading program Raz-Kids.  Our class Raz-Kids login is: hills1


3- Timed fluency practice worth 20 points. Click here: Timed Fluency Practice
This daily one-minute timed fluency reading will help your student become a fluent reader.  It will also count toward your 20 reading minutes.  Time your student for one minute.  Record the number of words they were able to read in one minute.

If they get 90% or higher they will move to a new sort section, if not they will repeat this sort section again.

**Note: Many cards are pictures, please encourage your child to spell as much of the word as they can. Pictures are used so the students will listen to the letter sounds rather than just look for the letter that matches their header.**
