Middle of Year Assessments

Students will be taking middle of the year assessments this week. A few things that will help the students during this week:
1- Sleep
2- A nutritious breakfast
3- An “I can do it” attitude– encourage them to do their best

We really appreciate your help with this! It makes a big difference to your student when they are well rested and not hungry for testing. We want every student to have the best shot possible at performing well on all mid-year assessments. :)

NOTE: Student health is our top priority. Please do not feel like there is a need to bring a sick child to school just because there is testing. If your child is sick it is best that they remain at home. Testing can be completed when they return healthy and well.

What we are learning

We are currently working on Unit 5 in Language Arts. Here are the power words, oral vocabulary words, letters, and sounds we will be mastering during this unit. We are continuing to work on handwriting and blending sounds to read words. We are reading decodable passages, watch for the passages in the student take home folders and invite your child to read to you.

In math, we will be finding different ways to make to ten. In addition, one of our standards is to fluently add and subtract within 5 (answers that are 5 or less). You can help us achieve this goal by practicing these math facts with us. Click here for flashcards you can print at home: Adding/Subtracting Flashcards.

Finally, in science and STEM we will be exploring animal shelters and how animals seek safety in order to survive.

Welcome Back

We are excited for your return tomorrow.  We hope you had an enjoyable break. We know that the children are excited about the gifts they received, but we are requesting that all toys and gifts remain at home.

Please note that devices that can be used to make or receive calls are to be kept in backpacks and turned off during the day; this includes cell phones, watches, etc.

Thank you for your support.
