Week of October 4th-7th!!

MONDAY: Substitute- I will not be in the classroom on Monday. You can contact me through email if needed.

TUESDAY: Field Trip- THIS IS THE PLACE HERITAGE PARK.

If you were not one of the lucky 4 parents invited to chaperone and ride the bus with the class, we would still love to have you attend the field trip. We will be loading the bus at 8:45. Parents driving will need to follow the bus down and pay the entry fee once they arrive. They ask that all parents stay with their child and their designated group throughout the day. Please do not bring other siblings/children with you. Your student must ride the bus back to the school. If you have not paid the $3 field trip fee please pay the office by Monday. Mrs. Gaylynn will be filling in for me this day. I will be meeting my class on the field trip around 10:00.

Library Books, Field Trip Fees, Marvelous Mastery Spreadsheet and Tutoring!!

Mondays our class attends the Library. This is the only day students are allowed to bring backpacks to school. Library books need to be taken home and returned to school in backpacks. If you feel your student is not responsible to take library books home, please let me know. They are welcome to leave library books in their desk for the week and read them while at school. If you have any questions please let me know.

The field trip is only a week away and our class is getting excited. Please pay the $3 field trip fee in the office by Friday!!

Marvelous Mastery spreadsheets were shared with parents last week. This spreadsheet will allow you to follow your student’s assessment progress throughout the year. In math, students need to pass the quiz, then take the Comprehension Check and score 80% or higher allowing them to take the Mastery assessment. All students are only required to take the Comprehension Check to show proficiency. Students will only receive the highest grade of 3 on Comprehension Checks. If students would like to become a master in that standard, they need to take the Mastery assessment and score 80% or higher to receive a grade of 4. If you see a yellow square on your student’s spread it indicates that they need to take, review, revisit or retake assessments. If a yellow square does not have a pass or % score your student is behind and needs to take that assessment. If you feel your child has yellow marks on their spreadsheet please encourage them to come to tutoring.

I have now started teaching tutoring on Thursdays in addition to Wednesdays after school until 3:30. Students are welcome to come to tutoring as much as needed. If students have not passed off standards (lessons) or are behind, I will email you and invite them to stay after for tutoring to catch up or relearn lessons.

First Official Field Trip – YAY!!!!

Our first field trip will be Tuesday, October 5th, 2021. We will be going to “This is the Place Heritage Park” in Salt lake city.

I have attached a google form with information that you will need to fill out for your child. I have attached part of the form so you can read about it in advance before filling out the form.

FYI I need a form filled out for each of my students before they can attend our field trip.

Field Trip Permission Form

INFO Sneak Peek::::

A bus will take us to the park from Quest at the beginning of school and bring us back to Quest that afternoon. The suggested donation will be $3 per student to cover all expenses for this field trip. Please pay your funds to the office or online before Sept 27th so we can get a good count.
Also, please indicate on this form if your student is going to attend and what they will be doing for lunch (whether it’s home or school lunch)
Also, we will be taking four chaperones to attend with each class. Chaperones chosen will ride the bus with us and have a group of students they are in charge of throughout the entire field trip. The chosen chaperones will need to pay the Quest office a $5 field trip fee. Please indicate if you are willing to attend and pay the chaperone fee and I will be randomly selecting the 4 lucky chaperones. I will let you know who is picked.

Please Note: Younger siblings are not allowed on the field trip since we will be taking the bus and do not have room for them to attend.

AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING!

After-school tutoring will begin this WEDNESDAY and will be held every Wednesday after school until 3:30. If students are not proficient in specific standards, they will be asked to attend tutoring. If you feel your child needs extra support in math please feel free to allow your child to attend. If you have any questions about tutoring please email me at sgarrett@questac.org.

Returning to School!

School is just around the corner and I am trying to catch you before you buy your student a new backpack. Don’t waste your money on a backpack because you don’t need them in my class. Students rarely take anything home because, for the most part, our class is digital. Students may bring a small lunch bag. This doesn’t come in a backpack, only the lunch bag. I understand that some students have phones they use after school or medical supplies, and those need to be brought in a small bag/backpacks. We don’t have space for storing big backpacks.

All information you need about the class is posted on our classroom BLOG. Our classroom supplies fee is $25 and can be paid at the office on Tuesdays, online, or on Back to School night.

I am excited to get to know you and your kiddo. We are going to have so much fun! Email me any questions you have. Please have your student practice math facts, play Reflex, and read for 20 minutes every day before school starts.

Students’ Reflex account for fourth grade is now active in Reflex. Have them log into Reflex, and they will see Username Mrsgarrett4, it may have 2021-22 added to it. Their password is the same as last year. It is their initials with two or three digits followed by rams. If your kiddo can’t remember their password please email me and I will send it over. It will help us get a head start on our learning.

To use Prodigy, Class code: 5FB1B0B

Have your students sign in to their Prodigy account, select update on the start screen, and enter your class code.
