Dioramas: Thank you so much to those that helped with the dioramas! I think the students have really enjoyed researching their animal and making their habitats. Please come see their hard work on Thursday from 2:20 – 3:00.
Star Students: ** Nov. 18: Adeline **Dec. 02: Adriel
Reading in Class: We are asking and answering questions to understand the author’s purpose. In phonics, we are working with long a words.
Math in Class: Word Problems with money. These can be really hard for 2nd graders to understand. PLEASE read the family letter below, and consider doing the activity with your child at home. We will test on Tuesday. Then we will start learning about time on an analog clock.
Reading Passages (optional, but highly encouraged!!) :Stories go home each Friday. Encourage your child to read them to you (3 times), sign it, and send it back with them. They get class money for this!
**Please read with your child. Make it enjoyable and fun. You can even read to them and then ask them questions!! 20 minutes a day is a great goal. Your child should be bringing home decodables each Friday in their black folders. These stories can be read and returned for class money. If they read them 3 times out loud with you, please sign it and have them bring it back. It is so important to read every day and ask fact finding questions from the story to develop your student’s comprehension; this is key to meeting the end of the year benchmark goals for 2nd grade.
