Positive Me Week!

Teaching: Mrs. Goldsberry
Mindset Thought of the Week:  Learn to be the best version of yourself and never settle for less.

Food Drive Kick Off starts today!  We are collecting food for the Utah Food Bank.  There are incentives that will announced in an assembly on Monday, as well as a competition between the grades.  It’s a great time to clean out the pantry, food storage, or to just buy a little extra to share with others.  Please open your hearts and give what you can.

Exciting Things are Happening!
This week we will be learning about Quadrilaterals, and how we use them in our world.  In Language Arts, we will be talking about Government, the Right to Vote and Why It’s Important to Vote.  This is a perfect opportunity to fill out your ballot and share this experience with your student.

New This Week!
We will be introducing a new program called Seesaw this week.  Seesaw is a digital portfolio that your student will be participating in.  You will be given the opportunity to join your child’s site and see the pieces they add to their portfolio.  We will be adding personal reflection, sharing learning in various subjects, recording reading,  and commenting on things that have happened at school.  They will be adding graphic designs that they create, books they write and a variety of other items.  You will have the opportunity to not only see your student’s work, but you can also comment through text, or vocal recording about his/her work.

Homework
Once again, homework is 20 minutes of reading on the days that end with y. I like to think of reading at home like piano lessons.  If you take the lesson, but never practice at home, you won’t get any better at it.

Math is Prodigy which will have problems with subtraction, addition,  place value and a little bit of quadrilaterals all mixed in.  Remember, the practice comes when a battle is held.  If you just wander around the kingdom, you won’t find the problems.  When you complete the problems we assign, it goes to adaptive practice, which reverts to what the diagnostic test shows the student needs.  If it seems too easy, the student may have not tried their best on the diagnostic and the computer is trying to figure out where they really belong.

Have a fabulous week and remember to be the best you, you can be!
