March Forward and Learn!

Teaching: Monday-Tuesday: Mrs. Goldsberry Wednesday – Friday Mrs. Alexander

Important Dates:
Mon.    March 5th  Welcome back to School!
Wed.    March 7th   STEM
Thur.   March 8th   Library
Fri.       March 9th   Short Day Schedule

We have learned and accomplished so much this year, but we’re not stopping there, we’re have so much more to learn, master and accomplish! We are currently working on opinion writing.  This requires us to first determine what we think, then we have to state why we think that, and last, we have to use evidence to support what we think.  This type of writing is difficult for 3rd graders, but we’re starting to understand it, and improve our opinion writing.

Don’t forget that the Iditarod is going on and everyone should have their tracking sheet at home.  This is a fun activity that you can do as a family, as you track the driver your student choose and watch as the teams move closer to the finish line.  There is no need to send the tracking sheets back to school.

Math
We are continuing on with Front Row Ed and will finish up our fraction unity before the end of the week.  We are still working to achieve mastery on all other concepts.  Please remember, all concepts may not be mastered by the end of the quarter, and that’s OK!  We would much rather know that they understand and know the concept throughly.

Homework
Many have asked how to help with the mastery of concepts.  The best way is to have them work in Frontrowed.com on the concepts they are struggling with.  We will still make assignments in Prodigy, and we want them to continue to love practicing Prodigy.  If you are interested on purchasing a membership in Prodigy, they are available through POQA for $12 a year.  This is a huge savings from the $10.00 a month membership that is available.

Reading homework is still 20 minutes a night.  If you would like to do Imagine Learning also, please feel free!  This program will help fill in any holes your child may have in all reading areas, and helps them with comprehension at and above the 3rd grade level.  Instructions on Imagine Learning can be found on the post below this one.

We hope you all have a fabulous week!
