We are Becoming Published Authors!
We are getting ready to become published authors.  In order to do this, we need you to sign the paper that your child will be bringing home.  This paper is the order blank for additional books.  Please look it over, and regardless if you buy or not, we need you to either mark yes, or no and send it back.  Anyone who does not bring back an order form, will not be able to have their book bound and sent back to us.

Each child WILL have a book to bring home, please do not include this book on the order form!!!!  Also, please DO NOT write “Only the free paper back book”.  The order form is if you would like to purchase additional books or a hard back copy of your child’s book.

Report Cards
Report cards are updated for the quarter.  We are now in the 4th quarter now and will be going strong until the end of the year.  Your child has been working very hard in Language Arts and Math.  Please remember the number 1,2, 3 and 4 and not indicative of your child’s mastery of the various standards but the percentages for each standard can tell you if they have mastered that standard.

In math, your child has been working on a skill until they master it.  This means some of the standards, they have not worked on at all this quarter. The students will be bringing home an updated Standards Mastered Sheet on Monday.  It shows all the standards they have mastered in blue.  They can tell you which one they’re working on and which ones they have struggled with.

If you have questions about these scores please feel free to contact myself and Mrs. Alexander.  If you are emailing, please always remember to include both of us in the emails.  sgoldsberry@questac.or and aalexander@questac.org

Reading

Math
We are going to start our unit on reading graphs and analyzing data.  This is a very fun unit where we learn a lot about each of the different types of graphs and how to read them.  We also work with story problems involving graphs.  Please keep your eyes open for the different graphs you see on a daily basis.  We are also continuing with our individualized standard mastery.

Homework
Please continue to read for 20 minutes daily!  It is amazing the difference this habit can make in the number of new words you learn, and how it affects fluency and comprehension.  If you don’t like reading, you just haven’t found the right book.  This is true for children as well as adults.

Math
In order to have a celebration for completing 3rd grade math early, all standards must be mastered by March 31st.  Many have asked what homework can be done at home to help master the standards, and it’s quite easy!  Do Frontrowed.com  adaptive practice.  Check your child’s mastery chart and have them work in the area of the standards they are currently working on in class.   You may also choose prodigy, and we are still making assignments in Prodigy to help support the topic we are working on in our whole group instruction.

Please know that we love our students and are thrilled to be a part of their lives!

Have a fabulous week!
