One More Week (Of SAGE, not school!)

Thank You
Thank you parents, and students for the fabulous costumes and wonderful performances to make the play the best yet.   Without you, the play would not be a success!  I love the way the students worked hard, memorized their lines and did an amazing job!

Thank you also for the immense spoiling that took place last week!  I loved all the sweet appreciations that were sent in my direction!  I do love my class!

This week we have SAGE testing on Tuesday and Thursday.    We’ll be attending Miss Beckstead’s and Mrs. Lloyd’s plays.

All of our library books are in (HOORAY!) and we were the winning class for number of minutes read!  Thanks for putting in all those hours of reading.  Mrs. Anderson rewarded everyone with a certificate,  a Reading Rocks pin and a book!   We really appreciate Mrs. Anderson and all that she does for reading in our school.

Homework
Reading
Reading 20 minutes nightly!  We have been working with picture books in class and now it’s your turn to choose and read a picture book and go in Google Classroom and tell us what you learned, noticed or found in the book. It can be something with foreshadowing, inference, a lesson learned as a few suggestions.

Math
This is a new fun new website that will reinforce the concepts we’ve learned throughout the year.  Just click on the link and you’ll go to Math 3 Under the Sea:http:

Fri.    May 12     Normal Friday Schedule

HERMIT CRABS
The time has come to put our Hermit Crabs up for adoption!  In order to put in for adoption, you will need to do a couple of things.   In order to adopt, you will need to provide a container for the crabs to live in, and insure that you will be willing to take care of them, feed them, purchase salt water for them, and Hermit Crab Dirt.  They need to have their dirt changed about every 3 weeks.  The dire and the salt water can be purchased at most pet stores.  If you would like to adopt, please do the following:
First, send a note with your child by THURSDAY that states you would like to adopt 2 hermit crabs.
Second, fill out the note I will send home with interested families and return it by FRIDAY.
Third, know that this is a drawing, all names of those who are interested will be put in a random name generator and the computer will draw the adoptive families.
Fourth, if your name is drawn, you will have the weekend to purchase your items and bring them to school by Monday.
Good luck to all interested families!

HOMEWORK
Reading:
20 minutes every night!  By now, this should be a habit.  We will be using your home reading in class.  If you don’t have time home, you may choose to read during study hall.

Math:  Prodigy is still set to review all the concepts you have learned this year.  I will only require 2 nights (30 Problems) due to the play on Wednesday night.

Thank you for being a great 3rd Grade Class!

The next 4 weeks are packed with all sorts of activities.  We are continuing to prepare for the End of Year Tests.   We are still learning new information as well as reviewing concepts we’ve learned throughout the year.  We  have completed the writing section of the test, and the Language Arts Section will be next week.  Please note: Math testing will be the following week.

Homework:
Reading every night is a habit that should be well developed by now and will hopefully continue for the rest of all our lives.  I have seen a decrease in the number of minutes being turned in for the library and in our classroom.  Please find books that you can read to yourself or with your family.   This week I will be randomly calling on the students to tell us what they have been reading at home.  Please, please, please continue to read nightly!

Prodigy is set to review all of the math concepts we will be tested on next week.  We are still learning and reviewing in class also.  We will be reviewing the concepts covered on Prodigy in class, as well as continuing to learn about equations, capacity and weight in class.

We do not have formal spelling words for the rest of the year as we are learning about rootwords, idioms and word parts.  All of these types of words are found throughout the reading we are doing in class as well as in the individualized reading that you do every night at home.

Have a great night and please be ready for dress rehearsal.

April 13   STEM
Special Dollar Dress Down Day to help the Quest Family who lost their house in a fire over the break

April 14   Field Trip to the Planetarium

FIELD TRIP AND PLAY
Remember, the field trip this week is to the Planetarium in Salt Lake.  We will meet at the Sandridge Frontrunner station in Roy at 8:15. We will return to the station at 2:45 so please remember to pick up your student before you pick up any siblings at Quest.  Your child will not need ANY money for this field trip and we have asked our volunteer adults to not purchase anything at the planetarium.  The food court is undergoing a renovation, so please do not plan to purchase your lunch there.

We are exactly 1 month away from May 10th It’s time to start thinking about costumes and props for the play.  Remember, we will have a day performance at 1:45, as well as an evening performance at 5:00.    Your child knows his or her part and you may work in conjunction with other characters in their scene if you wish.  This play is about fairy tale characters and the costumes do not need to be anything super fancy.  If you need help with  costume ideas, please come talk to me.

Opinion Writing
We are practicing opinion writing in preparation for our upcoming end of year testing.  Please ask your student to present their opinion to you on anything you can think of.  They need to give you a hook, with their reasons and evidence for each reason.

Donations
We are in need of #9 and #7 lead for our mechanical pencils.  Thank you advance for helping us out.

We had a fabulous time at the Living Planet Aquarium!  Thank you parent volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to do this field trip with you!  The students had the opportunity to see so many interesting and fun animals.   Several of the students mentioned they were planning on bringing their $3.00 on Monday, if it wasn’t too late.  It’s not too late, and would be greatly appreciated.

Upcoming  T

Our next field trip is April 12th, which is after spring break, to The Clark Planetarium.  We will be riding the Frontrunner to Salt Lake, trading to Trax to get to the Planetarium.  The cost of this field trip is $4.00 per student.  If you have not yet paid, not worries, but please do if possible, it really helps with the transportation costs.  No student will be left behind due to inability to pay.

We are already working hard on the play, and on our books.  Between the two of them, we are so busy while also learning about opinion writing and elapsed time.

HOMEWORK
