Homework
Hi Parents!,
I wanted to let you know that we are currently working on measuring. For this reason, we are completing our math activities here at school. This is the reason that students have not been bring home any math homework. I will be sending some math pages and spelling pages home for the spring break. When you have some down time and need your child to do something, you can work on these activities. Also, any reading that you can do, will be beneficial.
Spring break will be all of next week.
Have a fun and safe break!

diorama instructions
Here are some examples of how to make different dioramas. You can also go to youtube to find help and instructions. Please keep them small enough to fit on your student’s desk. A medium size shoe box is perfect!
To make a rainforest diorama, cut, shape, glue and decorate a selection of drawn animals and plant life together, while placing them into a shoebox. There are several different mediums that can come together to create an image of a rainforest, such as paper and markers.
Full Answer
A rainforest diorama is a fun craft where children can create lifelike environments and habitats. The materials required for a diorama are listed here:
- Shoebox
- Card stock paper
- Construction paper
- Crayons
- Scissors
- Paint
- Glue
- Paint brush
- Crepe paper
- Small box
Before constructing the diorama, be sure to design the trees, plants and animals that will be used beforehand. The following instructions explain how to properly make a rainforest diorama.
- Permanently open the shoebox
Take the small box and glue it on the crease of the shoebox so it can permanently keep the lid from closing.
- Paint the box
Paint the inside of the box green.
- Place the trees
Place the trees inside the shoebox. Be sure to keep them spaced from each other to allow room for the other animals.
- Place the plant life
Take the leaves, ferns and other plants and place them inside the box.
- Place the animals inside the box
Take the animals and place them on the trees and around the plants. Add details to the plant life and ground to give it a more realistic flare, such as using rolled up pieces of crepe paper to make vines.

Your second grader will be bringing home some information on an animal diorama that will be due April 9th (right after spring break)! We will be sharing them with the rest of the school on Tuesday, April 10th. Please ask them for this information since they will need your help to complete this project 🙂

Pajama day
Hello Parents,
This coming Friday, March 9th is an optional $1 dress down day. However, because our class acquired mastery in graphing, line plots and science, we are allowing our class to wear pajamas.
You may donate to the fund raiser but it is not necessary if your child dresses down or wears pajamas.
Thanks so much!

Valentine party
We will be having our class Valentine party on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 12:00 to 1:15. We have 16 boys and 9 girls in our class. Please have your child bring Valentines that do not have individual names on them. It takes forever to hand them out when they are individualized.
We will play some games and decorate sugar cookies. I have everyone’s signatures for cookies from the disclosure. Please notify me if this has changed since August.
We will make Valentine bags, here at school, so they will not need to be brought from home.
The following parents signed up to help with the party. Please let me know if you are now unable to come.
Christy Olson
Debbie Ernest
Kourtney Becraft
Belinda Gonzalez
Danica Smith
