OUR CLASS TOOK 2ND IN RAISING MONEY FOR A WELL IN AFRICA! WE RAISED $400! NOW WE GET TO CREAM THE ADMINISTRATION 🙂

Some useful information:
Next Wednesday, the 24th, starts off our ABC countdown. We will be doing the following activities for A, B and C next week:
*Wednesday- A art day- we will do some fun artwork
*Thursday- B baby picture day- please send a picture of your 2nd grader from when they were a baby. Please put it in a safe envelope or bag and label it. You may also email a picture to me that I will show on the TV.
*Friday- C critter day- Scales N Tails are bringing critters for an at school field trip. We will get to pet a giant snake!
Also- we will have dirt cups (pudding. chocolate cookies and gummy worms) and form animals with Rice Crispy treats. You signed permission for your child to eat these items on the class disclosure. Please let me know if this has changed!

Tomorrow is our last day to donate to Child Water for Life! We are so blessed to have clean water for all of our needs! Please help out by donating, by tomorrow, for this great need.

Elementary Challenge – Note to Parents

Hello!,
We have filled our parent spaces for the field trip. However, if you did not get on the list, you are welcome to come on the field trip. You will need to pay at the Planetarium and space for extra parents might not be available for the movie. Please plan on finding something else to do during that time if there is no availability.

These parents will be assigned students to keep track of. 
Those who would like to attend can see about getting tickets to the show beforehand. We will be seeing Northrop Grumman at 11:00 in the IMAX.

Clarke Planetarium Field Trip

On Tuesday, May 7th we will be going to Clarke Planetarium for The Journey to Space.

We will be riding the Trax for this field trip. Please have your child to the Roy Trax Station no later than 8:25! We will be riding the train that leaves at 8:46. Students not there will be left. We will be leaving Clarke Planetarium at 1:00 and arriving at the Roy Trax Station at 2:50. Please arrange for your child to be picked up there between 2:50 and 3:00.

We are able to take the first 7 parents to sign up. In order to be counted you will need to pay $7.00 to the school office. I will not take emails to hold a spot.

Each parent will be responsible for 3 to 4 students, from beginning to end. Please only sign up if this will not be a problem for you. Parents will be responsible for their own Trax fee. Round trip fee is $5.
Your student will have a permission slip sent home today. Please sign this and return it will your child ASAP!

We had a fun time learning about tornadoes and making a cloud in a jar. Thank you Mr. Booth for the learning and fun!

Tomorrow is a $1 dress down day.

Your student will be bringing home a math packet and April reading log. We will be working on counting coins when we come back. It’s another quick, one week lesson. Please help your student with understanding this. In today’s world where we no longer use cash and coins our kids don’t understand this concept until they actually use them.

Parents,
Your student is bringing a math homework pack on telling time to 5 minutes on analog and digital clocks. This is only a one week lesson so I’m really going to need your help so that your child understands this. Please complete this packet with your child by Friday and have him/her return it to school.

Are you having a difficult time getting your volunteer hours? Would you like to help the school and buy out your hours?  A donation of $150 will take care of your 30 hours for the 2018-2019 school year. If you don’t need your full 30 hours you can make a donation of $5 per hour you need. This donation will be used to put nice stamped cement along the front of the school where the grass won’t grow and creates a mud mess.  If you’re interested in volunteering and need ideas, please contact your students teacher or POQA.  If you have contact information for a person who lays cement or a person who can move a tree, please let Kitty McKissen at poqavp@gmail.com know. If you are unsure how many hours you have, refer to the email you received the beginning of the month from Help Counter or contact Catherine Sumner at csumner@questac.org  Please take your cash or check donation to Q1 or Q2 office.  If you need a receipt, let the office ladies know and POQA will gladly write one for you.
