APPLE WITCHES!!!
On Wednesday, the 29th, from 2:00-3:00 all of the third-grade classes will be carving faces for our apple witches that we will create later in the month of October. I am looking for 4 parent volunteers to help us out during this time. If you can help you will need to be prepared to be outside for the hour and you need to bring a peeler and a small knife. Please send me an email, or BLOOMZ message if you are interested in helping out.
Math: Our 3rd-grade class will start working on multiplication and we are so excited. This skill is very important for third graders to master. In order for your child to be successful with memorizing all of their multiplication facts they need to be practicing at home and flashcards are a great way to practice these facts. You can find a cheap set of flashcards at the dollar store, you can print off your own online, or use index cards to create your own. No matter which flashcards you use, it is so important that your child has practice.
We will be finishing up lesson 6 this week and moving on to lesson 7. With this math lesson, we will be using Skittles this week to help us with the distributive math property. I will email you if I DO NOT have the permission form for your child. Below is the family letter from our math workbook that explains what we are doing in class on lesson 6. On the second page of the letter, there is an activity to help students with multiplying by 3,4, and 6. You are not required to do the activity, it is just a suggestion if you would like your child to practice at home. I will post the lesson 7 family letter when we start it later in the week.
ELA: This week we’re working on Unit 1 Week 5 in our Wonders book. Below is an outline of what we will be learning.
