We Love technology!! Submit your homework each night via Google Docs. Use the Online Homework E-Submission tab under the Homework tab to find your way there. 
If you submit homework this way, nothing physically needs to be turned in. 

Daily practice of lessons is critical to your child’s academic success. Children need to be completing their homework daily. All of the spelling (word sort) assignments are the same weekly, only the word lists change. The new words can be found here on the blog on Monday. Your child’s Word Sorts are specific to their learning needs.

A minimum nightly reading of 20 minutes is required by students.

Summer Reading Program

Weber County Library will be hosting a reading program for students this summer. Register online and be eligible for prizes this upcoming June. Davis County also has a reading program as well as Barnes and Noble and Scholastic. Be sure to check these resources out to ensure your child gets reading practice in this summer!

PICTURES 
Pictures were sent out yesterday, if parents are wanting to purchase pictures, please return the enclosed envelope with the correct amount of money. If parents do not want to purchase pictures, please have the student return all of the pictures and indicate on the envelope that no purchase was made. 

SOLAR OVENS 
Solar ovens are going to be made on May 11th. We will be making smores with our solar ovens. Students must have a signed permission slip indicating that they can eat smores as part of our stem challenge for the month. The smores permission slip is on the blog. We also need a few more pizza boxes in order for the students to create their solar ovens. We are in need of 3 more.

Smores permission slip

For our stem project we will be making solar ovens and to practice using our solar ovens, we will be making smores. We need parents to sign a permission slip stating that their son/daughter may eat smore ingredients, such as, Hershey’s chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers. We also need at least 5 more pizza boxes in order for the students to have enough materials for their solar ovens. If any parents can donate supplies, that would be greatly appreciated! 

1.5STEM Challenge! 
For this Mays STEM Challenge we will be making Solar Ovens! We need 6 pizza boxes donated to build these ovens. Also, We will need a permission slip signed for students to be able to eat the Smores we will make with them!

Field trip reminder

Tomorrow (Friday) is the field trip. Please remember to dress your child warmly as we will be outside for most of the day. They should also bring a packed lunch or parents should have indicated prior that their child needed a school lunch. The field trip will last until 1:30 P.M. we will return to the classroom around 2:15 P.M. and students will leave from the school at 3:00 P.M. like they usually do. If parents want to check their students out earlier, parents must sign their child out before leaving the field trip to the school. The field trip is $4 and can be paid at the front office. Students must be in uniform, wearing RED with their name badges.
