I have attached the Read-A-Thon Permission Slip for you to print at home, just in case your child’s got lost in the shuffle. All permission slips are needed in order to participate for the prize.  Please bring in the Daily Reading Log on Monday March 5th, where they will be seeing who had the most minutes.
Only the minutes read during the week of February 29- March 5 will count! Time must be tracked during after school hours, not in school.

UPCOMING!

This is my last month here with the kids this year! We are still working on the substitute, but our plan is to have one sub for the entire 6 weeks I will be gone. This will hopefully help the kids feel  more comfortable. I plan to give him or her access to my email, so you will be able to contact the sub for any issues. As I get more information I will let you know!

1-primaria-unit-5-science-animals-1-638March is our ANIMAL UNIT! This means the students will be doing loads of fun educational activities on animals.
1. Dioramas
I will be sending home on Tuesday their rubrics for the Dioramas. Here is a link to view it online as well.
Diorama Project and Grading Rubric
Each student is assigned an animal and it will be on the rubric I send home.
We will begin researching them this week and projects will be due on April 11, 2016.
We will be showing our Dioramas off to the school on the following Thursday April 14th. I will let you know as time gets closer when those times will be so parents and family can come see!

2. We will be having a in school field trip. We do have parent volunteers for this field trip. We have an animal show that comes to our school for a special 2nd grade assembly. During this day we like to make it extra fun with some animal food activities. Please sign the permission slip to allow your child to eat the food we will be having that day!

Ancestors!

Wednesday October 21st, we are going to talk about ancestors. I would like the kids to talk to their parents about their ancestors and where they came from and where they are now.

For example,

Mrs. Woodrow’s Dad’s side of the family is from Italy. We still have family in Italy, but all of my close relatives live in the United States. We have Italian family members in Oregon, Utah, and Washington.

*Have students bring a paper with the names of the countries their ancestors came from and where they are now. We will look up on a map where those countries are and explore their heritage.

This will be fun! I can’t wait to hear about your students ancestors.

Mrs. Woodrow
