Classroom Information:

I will not be at school on Thursday or Friday of this week. I am going on a quick trip to Texas to see family before my husband leaves on a deployment. However, the amazing Mrs. Jennifer Wirt will be filling in for me. She is very capable and will not skip a beat. Even though I’ll be gone, please do not hesitate to contact me through email or BLOOMZ if you need anything at all.
Next, I will soon be contacting anyone who signed up to help with the Halloween Party through BLOOMZ. A sub-group will be created so that planning for the party can take place. If you did not sign up to help, but would like to, please contact me and let me know so that I can add you to the group. Halloween at Quest is such a fun day!

Apple Witches:
Apple Witches are coming along nicely. It’s fun to see the kids come in and check on their apples every morning and listen to their comments about how “weird,” “ugly,” or “creepy” they are turning out to be. Please be on the lookout for a letter coming home on Monday about the next phase of the Apple Witch creation.

Coming This Week:
This week in Math we get to connect Multiplication and Division! We will be studying the relationship between the two operations. This will include creating fact families, dice games, and some hands on activities.
In Reading, we will move on to Week 4 of Unit 1. We will be reading Mary Anderson’s Great Invention and All Aboard! Elijah McCoy’s Steam Engine. The comprehension strategy we will focus on asking and answering questions, and our skill will be Cause and Effect. The vocabulary focus will be on using context clues to help us understand new words and recognizing figurative language.

Homework:
It’s easy! 20 minutes of reading every night and Reflex. Please make sure that your child gets a green light in Reflex AT LEAST 3 times during the week. If you are on the go during the week like my family is, there is a Reflex app that can be downloaded to a phone or tablet so that students can get their green light on the way to and in between evening activities. If doing Reflex at home is not possible at times, please send me an email or Bloomz message so that I can arrange for your child to have an opportunity to get it completed at school.

Work hard. Be kind.
