Library

The theme for our library reading challenge this year is “Where in the world will reading take you?”. The idea is loosely based on the Amazing Race show. The idea is to get the most reading minutes per grade while “traveling” around the world/school. Each grade will be assigned a color and each class within the grade will be assigned a mode of transportation.
The students will record their weekly reading minutes on the google doc below. Each week, each student will submit their minutes of reading in the google doc Thursday night. Our librarian will then bring to our classroom or put in my mailbox the mode of transportation for our class for the students to write their names on that read. As you will see on the google doc, there are three choices of minutes to submit. When they are brought back to our librarian with their name son them they will get a prize if their minutes are over the standard 100 minutes per week. There will be posters of the continents around the school and she will start putting the modes of transportation on the walls to make it look like it’s a race.
The goal is to award the class within each grade with the most minutes and a student/students with the most reading minutes. The good news is, the 100 hundred minutes we are asked to read each weeks, counts as part of our reading for this challenge!
