7th grade Creative Writing Class Haikus
1st period:
Apple Pie
The crust smells so sweet,
And it bubbles as it bakes.
It melts in my mouth.
2nd period:
Unicorns
With a silk-like mane
Flying through the sky with ease.
So magnificent!
3rd period:
Forest Animals
Running through the trees,
Quick and clever in their home.
They are part of us!

Vocabulary
2- A Wrinkle in Time
- Connotation- an implied, additional or suggested meaning.
- Bilious- nauseated, unpleasant stomach. Disagreeable or bad-tempered.
- Malignant- harmful; wanting to do evil. Likely to cause death.
- Myopic- lacking in foresight or long-term planning.
- Precipitously- done rashly without much thought.
- Propitious- favorable and likely to lead to success. Kind or gracious.
- Writhe- to twist or squirm, especially as result of pain.
- Miasma- harmful fumes; can be caused by burning or decaying matter.
- Loftily- very high or tall; exalted or high-ranking. Behaving in a falsely superior or haughty manner.
- Systole- heart contraction where blood is pumped into the arteries.
- Pinioned- to restrain or immobilize someone, especially by bind in arms. To keep a bird from flying.
- Omnipotent- all-powerful; possessing complete and unlimited power/authority.
