8th – Digital Literacy

Digital Literacy is a half year course that continues to build a strong foundation to computer literacy. 8th grade students will have many opportunities to use technology and develop the skills needed to encourage creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, productivity, and collaboration. All of these skills will be used throughout their coursework and day-to-day life.

Because this course is aligned with the International Society for Technology in Education for Students, the K-12 Computer Science Framework,  and the industry standards for Digital Literacy Certification – this course is a prerequisite to transition students successfully to the 9th-12th grade digital coursework.

Understanding digital devices and the responsibility of their use, as well as a clear working knowledge of the variety of technologies that are available will allow students opportunities to become innovative designers.
