Dates to Know…

There are some dates that are VERY important for you to be aware of:
May 12th is our last library all books are due that day!

TESTING SCHEDULE
PLEASE be here testing days. Make sure to get to bed early. Eat a good breakfast so you are ready to do your BEST work. Parents, if you can avoid going on vacation at this time it would be VERY helpful. If you wait a few weeks, you’ll have plenty of time for vacations that do not interfere with school. When a student misses a test and has to make it up two things happen: First, they may miss a fun activity or review in the classroom. Secondly, research has shown that students test best when they test with their peers and not during a make-up session. That being said, here are our test days:

Science
Tuesday, April 26: 11-12
Wednesday, April 27: 11 11-12

Writing
Tuesday, May 3 9:45-10:45
Thursday, May 5 9:45-10:45

We have only 6 more weeks, guys! Let’s make every day count!

Front Row Ed/Math: You have two assignments. DO THEM! Some of us are not getting these done. #39 is what we are doing this week and did some of last week. #13 is adaptive so it’s where front row feels you need more practice.

Reading: 20 minutes a night and record on the document on google so I can see who my top reader is (I typically email the parents, so don’t try to fudge your number!)

Spelling groups: Here are your lists. Study hard.

The Titanic

So just think – tonight at midnight it will be April 15, 2016, but 104 (1912) years ago the Titanic was on it’s maiden (that means first) voyage. It already hit the ice burg because that happened at 11:40 p.m. on April 14th. At 2:20 a.m. April 15 will mark 104 years that the Titanic sank. Here are some pictures from our STEM challenge. The full diorama should hopefully be up next week. I hope you’ve all learned something, and have enjoyed learning about the Titanic. I have always been fascinated by the Titanic to think that there was this beautiful ship just lying on the ocean floor. All the treasures that would be inside it, and sadly the people with their hopes and dreams, too. I often wonder if Titanic had never sank, what would have happened to the ship? Most ships are sold to salvage yards and torn apart, some ships are blown up and sank on purpose to help make coral reefs. At the time Titanic was the largest and most luxurious, but since that time there have been bigger (and probably more luxurious) ships built. Here are just a few pictures to enjoy from our last STEM project. Sorry I didn’t get more. It was a very high energy building process.

Spring Break!

Enjoy your Spring Break. Be safe and have fun! I will see you back here April 4th.
Any emails sent over Spring Break I will look at the morning of April 4th. I am sorry but I do not check emails during break as I want to spend time with my family.

Student Education Plans

Parents,
I have your child’s student education plans done. On the form it shows your child’s last Star math and reading test, and score on the last DIBELS test. It also shows what I feel their strengths are, areas for improvement, your child’s goal to improve and any comments. In the beginning of the year I sent these home. However, since this is something that needs to be filed in the office, I’d rather not send it home again. If you came to conference I went over the information with you. If you’d like this information, I am willing to send it to you. You need to send me an email: kstone@questac.org. I can send it to you via text message from my phone, or I can make a copy from the copy machine and send a paper copy home with your child. So if you want to see this information let me know you want to see it and how you want it sent. If you want it texted, you will need to include what number you want it sent to. Thank you!
