What we are learning…

   -Math:
-I can divide a one digit divisor into a three digit dividend.
-I can divide a two digit divisor into a three digit dividend.

   -Language Arts:
-I can create a singular and plural noun by adding the correct suffix.
-I can read a draft and make necessary changes to create a more meaningful piece of writing.
-I can reread a text and answer comprehension questions that come directly from the text.

   -Science:
-I can identify the agents of chemical weathering: water, carbon dioxide, oxygen, plants, and animals.
-I can identify the effects erosion and glaciers have on the physical environment.
-I can identify the key elements of earthquakes and volcanoes.

   -Writing:
-I can read a fairytale and look at the different components.
-I can envision changes to the fairytale and begin brainstorming ideas for my own fractured fairytale.
-I can identify and correct errors in my own writing, including: capital letters, spaces between words, punctuation, descriptive words, etc.

Donations Needed for STEM Project

We will be studying Industrial Engineering next month with our STEM Project. We will be talking about the various responsibilities these men and women encounter on a daily basis. We are asking for parent donations of the following items to create a Balloon Powered Car. If you have any of the following items at home, and are willing to donate them, please have your child bring the items to school on or before Friday, October 6th.

These are the items we are needing to collect:

    • Cardboard
    • Plastic water bottles
    • Juice boxes (not plastic)
    • Cereal boxes
    • Water bottle caps
    • Old CDs or DVDs
    • Wooden skewers
    • Thank you for your support in making this STEM Project successful!

Review for math assessments: 5.NBT.1, 5.NBT.2, 5.NBT.3. Math assessments will be taken Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

I can complete three and four digit multiplication problems using the standard algorithm and lattice method to solve each problem.

  -Language Arts:  Students are taking their Unit 1 test throughout the week.
I can read a draft and make necessary changes to create a more meaningful piece of writing.
I can reread a text and answer comprehension questions that come directly from the text.

  -Science: Students are taking their Science Test on Thursday.
I can identify what matter is including: mass, volume, and weight.
I can identify physical and chemical changes in matter including: solid, liquid, and gas.

 -Writing:
I can read a fairytale and look at the different components.
I can envision changes to the fairytale and begin brainstorming ideas for my own fractured fairytale.
I can identify and correct errors in my own writing, including: capital letters, spaces between words, punctuation, descriptive words, etc.

  -Math: I can complete an equation using order of operations with GEMDAS (groups, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction). I can identify and show examples of expressions and equations.
  -Language Arts:  I can identify and correct errors in my own writing. I can identify the Greek roots in a word. I can read a draft and make necessary changes to create a more meaningful piece of writing. I can reread a text and answer comprehension questions that come directly from the text

Cookie Dough Order Update

Here is a friendly reminder that this is the last weekend to sell cookie dough. The Cookie Dough Fundraiser will be ending on Monday, September 18th. Please make sure your child brings all of the order forms and money, that he or she has collected, to school Monday morning. 

The cookie dough will be ready to be picked up from school on Friday, October 6th anywhere from 1:00-6:00pm.
