Valentine’s Day

Hello kitty valentine

Students are welcome to bring a bag or box from home on Valentine’s to collect their Valentine’s cards in. Today we talked about ideas for boxes and discussed that this is an optional activity.
Valentine’s Helpful Hints:
1- We have 24 students in our class.
2- Write who the Valentine is FROM. Do NOT address Valentine’s to each student (this will help the students distribute their Valentine’s in a more orderly manner).  They are welcome to put Friend or Pal  in the To: area.
3- Your student is welcome to decorate a box from home and bring it to school on the day of the party (February 14th). Please note: This is not mandatory.
4- To follow Quest’s wellness policy, only nonfood Valentine’s. Thank you.

“Per Quest’s wellness policy, all food in the classroom must be pre approved. Furthermore, parental permission is also required for students to consume food during class parties. Due to this policy—as in years past—student Valentines cannot contain edible items. Suggestions for nonfood Valentines include pencils, erasers, bubbles, stickers, etc. Please note that such items, including Valentine cards, are in no way required.”

From Quest Administration

Notification from: Quest Academy

Quest Families,

We are having a lockdown drill Thursday morning (afternoon kindergarten will have their own lockdown). Administration will be discussing the drill over the intercom with students in advance to explain and review our procedures for such drills. This may be something you want to discuss with your children ahead of time. We will reiterate to students that this is just a drill. We generally talk about this drill being necessary to keep us safe in the event that someone dangerous entered our school. Just so you are aware, classroom lights are turned off, doors are locked, and students and teachers quietly stay hidden until the drill is over. We have received training in this area by local law enforcement, and we follow the guidelines and response protocol set forth by “i love u guys”. Click here for more information. Please know that we are dedicated to keeping our students safe and we appreciate you entrusting us with your children.

The end-of-year testing, which has been called SAGE for the past few years, is now called RISE (Readiness, Improvement, Successes, Empowerment). Our students have started taking benchmark assessments provided by RISE to help prepare them for assessments that will take place in May. We’re excited for our students to show off the many things they have learned this year!

Thanks, Quest Families, for all that you do.

Homework

I know that with the break we are a little off our routine with homework.  Some students brought in their homework today, but most did not.  Please have your student remember to bring in their homework packet sometime this week.  They will get a new homework packet on Friday.  It will have a new reading log to track their reading minutes on beginning Friday.  If you already turned the other one in you can print a  blank one off of the blog or just email me their reading minutes.  Anyway that you want to report their reading minutes is fine.  We just want to make sure they get credit for their homework and their reading time.  Thank you for your help with this.  It is wonderful to be back with the students I love so much!
