Amazon Will Donate to Quest When You Make a Purchase!

If you are a big Amazon shopper like I am, you may be happy to know that Amazon will donate a percentage of purchases to a charity!  POQA has set up our school to receive donations!
  • How it works:
    • Visit:  smile.amazon.com
    • Choose: Quest Academy Inc (be sure it is the West Haven, Utah one)
    • Use Amazon the way you usually do. It will now say below the search bar “Supporting: Quest Academy Inc.”
    • In the future, instead of going to amazon.com, you can use smile.amazon.com
    • Thank you for supporting our school!

Popcorn Fundraiser

We are excited to be partnering with Hoppin’ Poppin’ Kettle Corn for our fundraiser.  Order forms were sent home with all students (I did notice that 2 unknown students in our class dropped their forms on the ground as they were leaving our classroom – please let me know if you didn’t receive a form and I will make sure your child brings one home). Hoppin' Poppin' Kettle Corn

Please do not encourage your students to go door to door but only sell to those they know.  The popcorn is gluten free.

Please return the order forms and money to the Q1 or Q2 office by November 30th.  There are 2 delivery date options, December 4th or 11th.  Parents will need to pick up orders between 2-3:30PM in the Q1 Gym.

We are excited to announce that the funds raised from this event will be designated to field trips, clubs and future activities for all the students at Quest Academy.

If you have any questions, please contact a member of the POQA Board.

Homework for the Week of November 16th-20th

For this week’s homework, there are 6 components required (all but the Moon Journal are due on Friday, November 20th):

1. Reading (20-30 minutes every day!)
2. Word Sorts
3. Spelling
4. Math
5. Sentence
6. Moon Journal (due Tuesday, December 1st)

Each week, print out the HOMEWORK FORM (CLICK HERE), which is found here or under the “Homework Form” tab above. If you would like to reduce the number of necessary printed papers, you may choose to print only page 1 of the Homework Form and use any blank paper for Tuesday’s Writing Sort and Thursday’s Glue Sort (see below).
  • This form does NOT need to be printed or turned in for credit during weeks that we are doing only READING homework.  Simply initialing the form that comes home with your child’s Book Buddy is sufficient during those weeks.

A Reading for All Learners (Book Buddy) leveled book will be sent home with your child DAILY. Please have your child read the book (or one story from the books that contain more than one story) at least three times and then sign the included form. You may supplement your child’s reading using books at home, library books, etc. to fulfill the minimum requirement of 20-30 minutes of reading per day.

Each week, print your student’s assigned Word Sort by clicking on the appropriate link below.  Use the Word Sort for the following activities:
  • Monday: Print, cut, and sort your words with an adult and explain this week’s rule. Sort each word under the correct guide word. Some guide words have a C or V combination on them – C stands for consonant and V stands for vowel.
  • Tuesday: Practice the sort and write it (using the grid on page 2 of the Homework Form).
  • Wednesday: Blind Sort (Lay down the guide words and then read the rest of the words aloud without showing them to your child. Your child must indicate where the word goes without seeing it.
  • Thursday: Sort and glue (sort the words and glue them using the grid on page 3 of the Homework Form).

Happy Veterans Day!

We had a great day celebrating all the many service men and women who protect our great nation!  We were able to Facetime this morning with a soldier who is currently deployed in the Middle East, and it was fascinating to hear his description of the work he is doing there.  The students had a lot of interesting questions for him and it was a very memorable experience.  Please enjoy some of our pictures from Veterans Day, and remember to put a green light bulb in your porch light tonight to show support for our veterans!
