New Poems for April. This has been so fun!
This month I am asking students to memorize at least one of the attached poems to be performed in front of the class before May 1st. This is a great opportunity to work on our fluency, phrasing, and performing skills. Students are welcome to memorize and perform as many poems as they would like. I will be paying class money for each successfully performed. I will be sending home a hard copy with each student. Feel free to click on the link April Poems or the picture to view online.

Important Information for Wednesday’s Field Trip

  • Due to powers beyond our control, Wednesday is going to be cold and snowy. Love this fickle Utah weather!
    • Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately. We recommend layers, a coat with a hood, umbrella, etc.
  • If you will be joining us as a chaperone, please support your teachers by being positive and understanding with the weather conditions and museum policies.
    • There is NO food allowed nor space for field trip guests to eat in the Museum including the Discovery Garden, the lobby or café.  There are a few picnic tables and grass area across the parking lot in front of the Museum that you may use.  Please bring your own garbage bags and “leave no trace behind” when cleaning up.
    • Because of the weather, we are encouraging students to have a snack (or part of their lunch) on the front runner on the way there and then finish on the way back, depending on the actual weather conditions.
  • All students will need to meet at the Roy Front Runner Station no later than 8:15.   We will then board the train and ride to Thanksgiving Point.
  • We will be walking from the station to the museum. It is about a 15-20-minute walk (half mile). Please wear shoes and clothing you can walk in.
  • We will board the Front Runner and return to the Roy Station at 4:15.

Please make note of the late arrival! You need to be at the station NO LATER than 4:15. Arrange carpool if necessary.

Pirates from Grammar Island Songs

A few students have asked for the music to practice the play. I’ve attached the songs here. Please have them listen with headphones so that the play will still be a surprise when we perform! Thanks!

Multiplication Madness Party

We will need parents to help and volunteer with the Multiplication Madness Ice Cream Sundae Party.  Parents that are able to come and help us, please come to the Q1 gym on March 28th @ 1:30 in the afternoon.  I know a lot of parents aren’t able to make it to the party, but we are in need of donations as well.  Our class is responsible for:

135 spoons

135 bowls-
135 napkins.

I will put a sign up on Bloomz so you can let me know if you would like to help with volunteering and/or donating on this day. Any parents that can come to help, please bring an ice cream scooper.  Thanks so much for all your support with all our extra shenanigans in third grade!  You’re all the best!

Field Trip Tomorrow

We are so excited to head out on our first 3rd grade field trip tomorrow!  Just wanted to post about some important things to remember.
  • Please be at school ON TIME because we will load the bus promptly at 8:30 AM.  If you are late, we cannot wait for you, as we have an appointment
  • Students need to bring a backpack to carry their lunch, water bottle and jacket. Students can also pack a book, game, etc…
  • In regards to lunches, there will not be a microwave, so they need to bring something that can be eaten cold.
  • Students need to wear school uniforms.
  • Please do not send money with students.  They do not need to purchase anything there.
  • Students can bring devices if parents allow it, but we are not responsible for lost or stolen property.
  • Parents can drive their child to and/or from the Aquarium, but need to let me know and sign them out (with me) before you leave at the end of the day.
