Each night, every student will be responsible for 20 minutes of reading, a math assignment, and a word sort on their specific sort group. Raz Kids username is nyoung23
Each sort will be worth 5 points. The week’s reading log will also be worth 5 points.
Math will be directly tied to what was done in class that day. I will have pdf links of the math assignment and the key (for parents/guardians) on the homework blog post.
Be sure to read the assignment because it won’t always be for every number on the page. Sometimes it will only be odds, evens, or a specific set.
If you would rather not print out the assignment, students are welcome to write their work and answers on a piece of lined paper. It will only be accepted if it is neat and legible.
ABC Sort Have your child explain the sort rule to you and put their words in alphabetical order. Speed Sort Time your child doing the sort three times. No Peeking Sort Read the sort words to your child aloud (without showing them). Have them write the sort words under the correct rule column with the correct spelling. Glue Sort Glue down the rules and the sorts that follow those rules.
Congratulations everyone! You made it a whole week! This whole third grade thing is a breeze after the first week :). This week we have learned magic tricks, done art projects, started cursive, and many more great things!
We will be starting homework on Monday. Everyone will be on the same sort to begin with this week. I will be putting the homework on the blog early this week so that you have a chance to ask questions about it if you need to. Please let me know if you have any questions!

This is just a reminder about Back to School Night tomorrow. I am really excited to meet everyone!! To make sure everyone gets all pertinent information I am going to have 15 minute sessions (with a little built in wiggle room) throughout the evening starting at 5:35. I have prepared a short powerpoint that hits all of the highlights of the disclosure statement and some contact info. It should last about 8 minutes, leaving a little time for questions and introductions at the end. I will be closing the door when we start each session. Last year I didn’t feel like I was able to talk to everyone and get them up to speed with the open house approach. You only need to attend one of the session, but you are welcome to stick around for more. Let me know if this works for you!
Welcome to our class blog! I am so excited to get ready for the new school year. I met some of you on the last day of school and am really looking forward to meeting the rest of you. Remember Back To School Night is Monday, August 17 starting at 5:30. Have a great last couple days of summer!
Just a quick reminder about our pizza party on Tuesday! Students do not need to bring a lunch that day. We will be having pizza, juice, and cookies. If there are any questions or concerns, let me know!
I had so much fun doing our play this year! Our class worked so hard and everyone could tell at our performance. It went fantastic!! The recording will be up this later week. We had an amazing time at the Living Planet Aquarium!! We were able to explore the aquarium and go to a class about the tides from Scott! Thank you so much to all students and parents for making it a wonderful, memorable day!! Parents, you have any other fun pictures from the field trip I would love to post them!
