We’ve almost made it to the long weekend! Monday is Labor Day so we will not be having school. I hope everyone has fun plans with friends and family! Tomorrow is a dollar dress down day, which means that if you student brings a dollar they don’t have to wear the uniform. Teachers will be participating as well. It is also a short day so don’t forget to pick up at 1:00.
We will also be postponing the Chapter 1 math test. We reviewed today and I think we need a little more practice.
Directions: Always keep this in your homework folder. Each day place a check in the box when you finish your homework. Have a parent initial the column and bring back this sheet every day in your homework folder.
Students are required to read 20 minutes a day. Please record reading time on the attached document or on the google document. It needs to be up to date every Friday. Reading Log Yellow Sort 44 Monday ABC sort Have your child explain the sort rule to you and put their words in alphabetical order.
Wednesday Read the sort words to your child aloud (without showing them) and have them write them under the correct rule column with the correct spelling.
I hope everyone has enjoyed the lack of homework these first couple of days! Homework will be starting on Monday the 25th. Each night, every student will be responsible for 20 minutes of reading, a math assignment, and a word sort on their specific sort group.
Last year, I had students bring in a reading log on Fridays and their completed sort each morning in hard copy form. This year, you have the option of reporting reading and sort work right on the blog under the homework tab. Each sort will be worth 5 points. The week’s reading log will also be worth 5 points. If you would rather do a hard copy you are welcome to turn those in instead.
Math will be directly tied to what was done in class that day. I will have pdf links of the math assignment and the key (for parents/guardians) on the homework blog post. Be sure to read the assignment because it won’t always be for every number on the page. Sometimes it will only be odds, evens, or a specific set. If you would rather not print out the assignment, students are welcome to write their work and answers on a piece of lined paper. It will only be accepted if it is neat and legible.
The weekly organizer will need to be printed each week and initialed by a parent/guardian every evening. This organizer will also have some instruction and occasional announcements.
Sorry this was so long!!! I just wanted to make sure we are all on the same page! 🙂
You can still order the pictures taken today for the next 48 hours. Visit mylifetouch.com enter UM044273Q0 as the picture day code. Everyone looked so nice today!
Quest Academy’s picture day is tomorrow! Please make sure that you bring back the forms if you would like to buy pictures. This picture will also go on the ID that students wear everyday so be sure to look your best!
Also, if you haven’t turned in the class disclosure signed, the technology usage permission slip, or any other paperwork please do that now so that we can begin working with technology and have everyone taken care of.
On the first day of school the whole 3rd grade made friendship bracelets. Every 3rd grader got 125 new friends that day! We love to look out for, play, and learn with our new friends.
Today was so wonderful! I know we are going to have the best year! We learned many new things about our classroom, our classmates, and our class. If you have a minute, let your child explain a couple things they learned today. I was so so so proud of all of the hard work and good listening that went on today. Let’s do it again tomorrow!!!
