Field Trip Tomorrow and Other Announcements!!!

Just a few reminders for tomorrow:
1-First of all, each student will be coming home with their tie dye t-shirts tonight.  The students need to wear them with jeans tomorrow (Dress Down).
2-Every child needs to be at the Roy Front Runner station no later than 8:15 am.
3-Each child needs to bring a backpack with their lunch and a water bottle.  A jacket might be a good thing to wear as well.  They will be carrying their own things for the entire day.
**Please make sure all students go to the bathroom before they get to the Front Runner Station.  The train is not equipped to handle over 100 students going to the bathroom.

DON’T FORGET THAT YOU WILL PICK YOUR CHILD UP FROM THE FRONT RUNNER AT 3:45 PM!!

We are so excited!!!!

We had to change our 3rd Grade Party to next Tuesday, May 26th.  POQA will be feeding the students pizza for lunch, so your children do not need to send lunch that day.  We will also be having some activities that day and watch a movie together as a grade.  Students need to bring their tie dye shirts with them on this day.  They will get to wear them over uniforms during the 3rd grade games.  Thanks!

Tie-Dye Shirts

I will be sending home the tie-dye shirts on Thursday. Please have your student wear the shirt for the field trip on Friday. We will also be bringing them back to sign on Tuesday. Tuesday is our pizza party from winning the box top competition! We will be wearing these shirts on the last day of school for our class picture and our field day activities.

Play Time Change

First of all, I just wanted to thank all parents for their support this year. This has been an amazing year. I want you to know that this was a tough decision. It just made my heart hurt to think about how every child worked so hard to learn this play and not being there to share the performance would just be horrible. I am so sorry if this is inconvenient! I just felt like the most important people on that day would be the students. The play will be recorded and will be posted on the blog for your viewing pleasure!

The play will be May 20th at 9:30 in the Q1 gym.
The dress rehearsal (which is open to all) will be May 19th at 1:15.

I am truly sorry about all of the change!!!!!!

Play Update

  • We will be having a dress rehearsal at 12:45 on the 19th. If you are not able to attend the performance on the 20th at 2:00, you are welcome to come!
  • All costumes and props need to be ready by then
  • Speaking of props 🙂 we need:
    • poster board for signs
    • binoculars for the scouts (can be homemade)
    • “treasure” something shiny, golden, plastic, etc
    • Pirate flag
    • someone to pick up some large, flat cardboard (for the set) from a Home Depot, Lowes, etc
    • a creative genius to help make the set. We need a pirate ship on one side and an island on the other
    • I bought some red fabric for bandanas and some stretchy red fabric for sashes if someone wouldn’t mind cutting those out and making them look nice. I also have materials for eye patches.
Thank you so much for your help and support. The play is going to be fantastic! I still love it after seeing it for 20 days straight!

Field Trip to the Aquarium!

Our long awaited field trip is almost here! We are going to the Living Planet Aquarium in Draper on May 22nd.

The plans for the trip are as follows:

*All students will need to meet at the Roy FrontRunner Station no later than 8:15.  We will then board the train and ride to Draper.  A bus will meet us there and shuttle us to the Aquarium.
*At the Aquarium we are scheduled for a half-day learning adventure and then we will have a short time to explore and eat lunch. (There will not be school lunch available for our students this day.)
*We will then shuttle and board the FrontRunner and return to the Roy Station at 3:45

The cost of the aquarium is usually around $15 for children and $18 for adults so we are ecstatic to say that the cost of this fieldtrip is $2.00 donation per student (Please note: No child will be left behind due to not paying).  If you, as a parent, would like to go with us, you are more than welcome to.  The cost of the trip for parents is $7.00 which will cover the cost of your admission into the Aquarium and your transportation.  With the nature of this field trip, we are only allowing parents to attend with us and all parents will be responsible for a small group of children.  Please make other arrangements for ALL other siblings.

If you would like to go with us , please sign the note at the bottom of the page and return it WITH your payment by Friday, May 8th.  Those who do not pre-sign up will need to pay full admission price at the Aquarium that day.

I will be sending the permission slip home today. It is also linked here Field Trip Permission Slip.

Thanks,
Ms. Young

Pirates from Grammar Island

I am sure you have heard many of our wonderful songs already, but for the real thing we will be performing on May 20th at 2:00! Everyone is very excited to show their hard work!

There are multiple youtube videos of others performing the same play if your child wants to practice songs at home! As for costumes everyone needs to dress like a pirate. I was thinking a simple one would be a white button down shirt or striped t-shirt, black pants, and some pirate gear. To make it fancier you could get a vest, maybe a sash around the waist, a hat. Any and all accessories would be appreciated!! If you have extras we would love to borrow some. Some students have other parts and costumes and I have talked to them about it already. Let me know if you have any questions!
