  • For math, we are working on comparing fractions
    • Please keep working on multiplication at home!!
  • Here is the spelling and vocabulary list Weekly Outline-Unit 5 Week 1
    • we will be working on compound words
  • We are also starting our country reports! All students have chosen a country to research and will be presenting their findings in a Google Slides presentation!
  • Name badges must be worn at all times during the day.  Please make sure that your child has theirs with them.

    • Aquarium Field trip- Tuesday, May 8th
  • Short day every Friday!!
Math Homework:
Please go to prodigygame.com (or click on the link to the right, under math).  Your student’s login information is the last week’s post.  Please have your child do Prodigy for at least 15 minutes (M-Th).

I need each student/parent to use the class code: B6F93B to add to “Miss Young’s Class-3rd Grade”. That way, if you already have an account, I can see your login and password. 

Reading Homework:
Please make sure your child is reading 20 minutes each night. Please fill out the Reading Log on Friday (of each week).

    • Please keep working on multiplication at home!!
  • Because it is a short week, we will be continuing with last weeks lessons.

    • we will be working on homophones

Parent Teacher Conference

For those of you who need to sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences, the sign up is on Bloomz! Sign up as soon as you can! Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on February 20th and 22nd.

I have already emailed a few parents and let them know about special arrangements. If you received one of these emails, please do not sign up for another time.

Multiplication Madness Celebration/Valentine’s Day Card Swap

**We will be passing out Valentine’s Day cards on February 14th (before the Multiplication Madness Celebration).  We have 24 students in our class.  I prefer for the students not address the student’s names on the Valentine Cards.  It takes double the time to pass them out if they are addressed to each individual student in our class.  Please have your child just sign each of their cards.  Remember not to send candy with your cards.  You can bring anything else that is not edible.  WE WILL NOT BE MAKING VALENTINE’S DAY BOXES OR BAGS TO HOLD CARDS.  STUDENTS ARE WELCOME TO BRING BOXES OR BAGS FROM HOME.  I WILL HAVE PAPER SACKS TO GIVE THE STUDENTS THAT NEED SOMETHING.**

We will need parents to help and volunteer with the Multiplication Madness Ice Cream Sundae Party.  Parents that are able to come and help us, please come to the Q1 gym on February 14th @ 1:30 in the afternoon.  I know a lot of parents aren’t able to make it to the party, but we are in need of donations as well.  Our class is responsible for:

135 spoons
135 bowls-
135 napkins

Please let me know if you would like to help with volunteering and/or donating on this day. Any parents that can come to help, please bring an ice cream scooper.  Thanks so much for all your support with all our extra shenanigans in third grade!  You’re all the best!

  • Please sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences via Bloomz. If you have not signed up for Bloomz, please do so now. The post below gives further instructions. 
    • PTC will be November 7th and 9th from 3:30 – 7:45.
  • Here is the spelling and vocabulary list Spelling and Vocabulary Unit 2 Week 4
    • This week, we will be testing on the spelling blends:  /scr/, /spr/, /thr/ and /str/.
    • Because of Halloween and no school Wednesday, we will be doing these words for this week and next week.
  • For math, we are starting perimeter
  • Field trip permission slip needs to be signed and $4 turned into the office ASAP.
    • The field trip will be on Thursday, November 9th, not Wednesday as was written on the paper. Sorry!
    • Here is a copy if you need another-Fremont Field Trip
  • Short day every Friday! 5 cans for dress down on Friday
    • this is the last day for cans!! Please bring them in!!
