Please Read! Grinch Party and Christmas Party Info!!!
Next Friday, December 16th, the third grade will be having a Grinch Party. We will be watching the movie, How The Grinch Stole Christmas as a grade. We will be serving “Grinch Popcorn” (sugared popcorn colored green) “Grinch Pills” (green Sixlets) during the party. Please let us know if you have a problem with your child eating either of these things. Since this day is a Free Dress Down day, we thought it would be fun for the students to dress up like the Grinch or a Who from the story/movie. Any child that would like to do that sure can. It will add to the fun for sure!
Before the Grinch Party, our class will be doing a White Elephant gift exchange party. Please send your child with a wrapped present on or before the 16th. This can be something from around your house, a Dollar Store purchase, a toy you have lying around, something funny to make us laugh (Those are my favorite.), etc. Please DO NOT go out and spend a bunch of money on this gift. That will not be necessary. Let me know if you need me to have a gift ready for your child. Thanks so much for all you do!

**FYI**
We have had a few items go missing in the past couple weeks. If you happen to see a box of Pokemon cards that is blue, a little lego shark figurine (taken from off of my desk), or other items you don’t recognize I would appreciate an email. We do not trade cards or toys here at school so there should not be anything new coming home.
I’m sad that we are struggling with this! We have had many talks in class and I hope that things will turn back up.

Carving Apple Witches
On Friday September 16th from 9:00-10:30 we will be carving apples for apple witches. Please send an apple to school with your child by Thursday September 15th (we will not be eating them). If you would like to volunteer, you may sign up on the Bloomz app. If you have not signed up for Bloomz, go to bloomz.net and enter class code: KHRMJ2. I need 8 parent volunteers, an 1/8 teaspoons (at least 10), and apple peelers (at least 8). If you have any of these items but cannot attend, please send them with your child, and I will make sure that they get back to you.

Picture Day
Picture day will be August 22nd. Students need to wear their uniforms that day because this is the picture is the one their name badges. The forms will be sent home tomorrow if you would like to purchase the pictures.

Back to school night is tonight from 5:30 to 7:30. I can’t wait to meet everyone!
Pirates from Grammar Island
Presenting: Pirates from Grammar Island! If you need a DVD, I have about 5 already made. Please let me know if you want one so that I can make more if needed. I had so much fun with this play and with our class. They did a fantastic job.
Week of May 22, 2016
No homework!!! Though we do have some important announcements!
- If anyone has great pictures from the play, I would love a copy! You can send it to nyoung@questac.org
- I am working on a DVD of the play. Let me know if you would like a copy.
- We are working on an iMovie this week that sums up our 3rd grade year.
- We will be cleaning out and cleaning up our classroom on Thursday.
- Art books will be sent home this week. Not everything fit, but they still turned out cute!
- Friday is field day. It is a dress down day, but 3rd graders are required to wear their tie dye shirts. Please make sure students are dressed for the weather and have a water bottle to keep hydrated. I would also encourage sunblock and/or a hat.

Pirates from Grammar Island
I am sure you have heard many of our wonderful songs already, but for the real thing we will be performing on May 20th at 2:00! Everyone is very excited to show their hard work!
There are multiple youtube videos of others performing the same play if your child wants to practice songs at home! As for costumes everyone needs to dress like a pirate. I was thinking a simple one would be a white button down shirt or striped t-shirt, black pants, and some pirate gear. To make it fancier you could get a vest, maybe a sash around the waist, a hat. Any and all accessories would be appreciated!! If you have extras we would love to borrow some. Some students have other parts and costumes and I have talked to them about it already. Our dress rehearsal is going to be May 13th. We will need costumes before then. Let me know if you have any questions! Here is the link to the form.
