It’s competition time! The 1st grade team will be making a Family Fun Activity Basket

Thank you so much for all of your support!  With a little help we can put together the best basket and win!  The ideas are endless and there is no idea that we can think of you could donate that wouldn’t fit into our basket theme.  If you know any businesses that you can ask for donations that would be great as well!  The Rush Funplex has already donated 5 VIP All Day Passes for our basket!  All it takes is a phone call.

“Per Quest’s wellness policy, all food in the classroom must be preapproved. Furthermore, parental permission is also required for students to consume food during class parties. Due to this policy—as in years past—student Valentines cannot contain edible items. Suggestions for nonfood Valentines include pencils, erasers, bubbles, stickers, etc. Please note that such items, including Valentine cards, are in no way required.”

Word sort change and timings

  • You may have noticed when you look at the homework for next week that your child’s word sort may be repeated or is a lot different than earlier. I gave another test and reevaluated groups for word sorts. Feel free to let me know if you have questions. I did what I thought would help each student best based on their test.

  • I also gave out a midyear math timing and even though we have done them each week some students still seem to be stressed when it comes up.
Feel free to also practice math timings with your child at home.

Click here 0-18 facts to print out addition math timings

Click here fiveminutemathsubtractiondrills0-12 to print out subtraction timings.

I time the students for 2 minutes for each addition and subtraction.
Their goal is 27 addition and 21 subtraction.

Enjoy your weekend!

pizza hutOur class is participating in the “Book It! Read your heart out” program.  The goal is for each student to read 80 minutes each week.  Once a month awards will be given to all students who have achieved this goal.  I will use the reading log found on our weekly form to track their reading minutes.  Happy reading :)

3
bandaid We are using a LOT of bandaids in our class this year.  Because of the high demand our supplies are running out. If you are able, we would appreciate donations of bandaids. I would prefer plain, non-colorful/pictured bandaids…just plain, boring bandaids.
THANK YOU!

4.
Headphones
HeadphonesThere are a few students who no longer have working headphones.  We use our headphones EVERY SINGLE DAY, often all at the same time, and we do not allow students to borrow other students’ headphones because of liability in case they are broken, etc.

Will you please ask your child if she/he has a working set of headphones at school, and, if not, could you please send a pair of headphones with your child to school as soon as possible?

Thank you very much! :)

5. Last but not least (sorry so much) Please send your child with a plain, but clean sock that is not being used at home whether old or too small for your child to use as an eraser. We are going through enormous amounts of tissues being used as erasers. With it being cold season I would like to make sure we have plenty of tissues on hand. Thanks!! Screen Shot 2015-11-06 at 3.57.43 PM
