**2024-25 REGISTRATION** If you would like your student to attend Quest Academy in the 24-25 school year, registration is due by Friday, December 15 in order to guarantee placement. Please refer to the previous email for the step by step instructions. Registration takes only a few minutes, so please plan to complete it as soon as possible.

LOST AND FOUND: Our lost coats and water bottles are accumulating rapidly. Please check our lost and found box (elementary) and cabinet (junior high), as well as the lost water bottles kept in the Q1 lunchroom. All items remaining after the 15th will be disposed of or donated.

Yearbook Contest: The time has come for us to select a yearbook cover for our 2023-24 elementary yearbook. We will be holding a Yearbook Cover Contest to select two students whose artwork will be featured on the front and back cover of the yearbook. This year, students can choose to do artwork that is created digitally or hand-drawn. Each entry must be brought in on a white 8 ½ X 11” paper, and include the school name along with the student’s first and last name in one corner. We will be looking for entries that represent this years theme which is “BE GREAT!”  Entries are due by Friday, January 5, at 8:30 am.

List of digital art programs suitable for children: Adobe Fresco, Gimp, Krita, Artweaver Free, ArtRange, Sketchpad, Astropad Studio, Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, Vectr, FireAlpaca, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Paint, Procreate, Tux Paint, Drawing for Children.

Reading in Class:

Math in Class: This will be a review week. We will be practicing word problems within 100. We will also be practicing strategies to add and subtract 2-digit numbers.

Reading Passages (optional, but highly encouraged!!) : We are testing Jan. 16.

**Please read with your child. Make it enjoyable and fun. You can even read to them and then ask them questions!! 20 minutes a day is a great goal.  It is so important to read every day and ask fact finding questions from the story to develop your student’s comprehension; this is key to meeting the end of the year benchmark goals for 2nd grade.

DECODABLE STORIES: Your child should be bringing home stories each Friday in their orange folders. Your child can read these stories and return them for class money. If they read them 3 times out loud with you, please sign it and have them bring it back.
