Grades and Field Trip

Grades are current in our online grade book. Please note that your child will be bringing home graded work. Some scores, on papers, are not the same scores that you will always see online. Grades may be different due to online testing and reteaching. Many times the online testing is more rigorous and difficult than the paper tests that we give.

Thanks for the parent volunteer response for our field trip! Our volunteer availability is now full. Please ensure that you have filled out the permission form and that your child has a school lunch ordered if you are not planning on sending a home lunch. Also, please watch the weather forecast so that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather we will be having on the 3rd. I am hoping for a beautiful, sunny day.

Field Trip to Gibson Green Acres

We will be going to Gibson’s Green Acres farm on Thursday, October 3rd. We will leave the school at 8:45 am and return at 12:00.

We will be going through a corn maze, sliding down giant slides and riding on a wagon to see the dairy cows. Please dress your child in good walking shoes for this field trip.

We can take a maximum of 8 parents per class. The first 8 parents, from each class, who pay the office their $4 fee will be those that will be able to go. Please do not pay for parents online! Student fees will be $6 each and can be paid to the office or online. This will include a small pumpkin.

Please click on the link to sign permission for your child to attend. This also gives us the required time to order sack lunches from the school if that is what your child will be eating. They may bring their own sack lunch but please be aware that there will be no microwaves.

Fund Raiser and Homework

The fund raiser will end on Friday, Sept. 13th! Please make sure that your child turns in all orders by then! We will receive the ordered books in approximately 2 weeks. These make great gifts!
Please note that homework is not expected!! Homework is optional! I will continue to send math pages home daily in case that is something you like to do with your student. If you choose to send them (not necessary), completed, to school, they will not be graded. They are only sent so that you can see what your child is doing in math while at school.
Reading charts do not have to be filled out and returned. However, they are a fun motivator for some one on one reading time with your child. Please have your child read for enjoyment, not for torture 🙂
Research shows that homework is not beneficial! Please be aware that I am bombarding your child with learning, all day. Enjoy your evenings with your child!!

Fund Raiser Information

If each student sold $100 worth of items, we would reach our goal as a school, as well as bring in enough money to build an entire school in another country! That means each student only needs to sell 10 of the smaller journals. Or, they could focus on selling just FIVE of the art pieces. Thanks for your support and help. Go, Quest Rams!!! Pictures and Math Homework

Your child will be bringing home nightly math pages. Please go over these with them to ensure understanding.

Great Week!

We have had a wonderful first week of second grade! This class is so compassionate and willing to learn! Thank you for sharing your amazing children with me!
We received our new math books and there are assignments 4 or 5 days a week to send home as homework.  Please look over these papers each night and complete them with your student, when you can. It is a concept that I will have taught them each day. These do not have to be returned to school.
I will send a reading calendar home next week. Please have your child color in an apple, each day that they read, and return it at the end of the month. They will get to pick out of the prize box when these are returned. You can read any books with them as long as they can read the words and understand what they are reading.
I appreciate all of the wonderful supplies that I have received from you! We will make it through the entire school year! 🙂

Back to School Night

Plan on coming to Back to School Night on Friday from 5:30 to 7:30! We will be having 30 minute sessions in each classroom. The first session will start at 5:35 so I will close the door at 5:35, then 6:05, 6:35 and 7:05, for each session. We will go over some helpful information for the new school year. It gets very hectic so please make sure that you sign the parent volunteer forms and the student of the week page.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need something specific addressed.

Exciting New School Year!

If you have received notification that I will be your child’s second grade teacher, then you’re in the right place!
You can copy and paste your child’s supply list by going to the supply list page and you can find the class disclosure by clicking on that page. Please notice the different food activities that we have during the year. When you sign the form you are giving permission for your child to participate in these activities throughout the year. I will need the signature area signed and returned when school starts.
Please plan to attend Back to School Night on Friday, August 16th 5:30 to 7:30.
It is helpful if you can bring your child’s supplies on that night. Please email me if you have any questions or concerns. I feel that we can be most successful in your child’s education when we work as a team.
