Happy Birthday, Gus!

Reading Passages
Make it enjoyable and fun. You can even read to them and then ask them questions!! 20+ minutes a day is a great goal. Your child should be bringing home 2 decodables in addition to their weekly passage throughout the week. These stories can be read and returned for class money. If they read them 3 times out loud with you, please sign it and have them bring it back. It is so important to read every day and ask fact finding questions from the story to develop your student’s comprehension; this is key to meeting the end of the year benchmark goals for 2nd grade, without practicing and developing this skill of retell it is extremely difficult hitting the end of the year benchmark reading level which begins this week.
End of level benchmark testing required by the state begins this week. Please make sure your child has a good working pair of headphones as soon as possible. We use headphones multiple times throughout the day.

Here is more information on the Hogle Zoo Field trip coming up. Unfortunately, we learned that due to bus space, all chaperones must drive and meet us at the zoo. Chaperones also need to be prepared to pay for your entrance fee, which we’re told is $19.95.
The chaperones and groups are listed below.
Please fill out this permission slip for our field trip: Hogle Zoo Field Trip
Please fill out the food testing treat permission form as soon as possible. Administration will be providing the treats for the students. If you could please complete the permission slip as soon as possible as testing will begin next week. Click the link here: Testing Treat Food Permission Slip
