Dr. Seuss Week Door Decorating Contest

Hello all! Dr. Seuss Week is March 2nd-6th and Quest is having a Dr. Seuss door contest.  I was wondering if there were any parents interested in decorating my door all fancy for this contest??  Please let me know if you are interested or able to help.  The door has to be up and completed by March 2nd.Thanks so much for all you do to help our class.

Also, the Book Fair is the same week as Dr. Seuss week.  Here is the schedule for the Book Fair:
Mon 3/2 8-330 (both fairs open all day)
Tues 3/3 8-330 (jr high open before & after school)
Wed 3/4 8-330 (jr high before & after school)
Thurs 3/5 8-330 (jr high before & after school) & 5-630 (elem open during 4th grade wax museum)

Homework February 17 – 20

Read-A-Thon is this week!  Keep collecting pledges for our upcoming Read-a-thon on Friday, February 20th.  You can record you pledges on the following chart:

Math Homework:  I suggest your child can do a few problems every night if it gets overwhelming for them this week.  We will be taking our Chapter 6 test on Friday.

2- Reading 20 minutes per day, record on reading log. Please have at least one of the days this week be on RazKids and complete the comprehension quizzes after reading the book.  ** Tuesday is Library Day-send your students with their books. **

3- Timed Fluency Practice.  This daily one-minute timed fluency reading will help your student become a fluent reader.  It will also count for reading minutes.

Valentine’s Party and Card Exchange

Valentine’s Party- Friday, February 13th 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.

Activities during school on February 13th will involve sugary foods, such as eating candy and the decorating of sugar cookies.   Please send your child with a decorated shoe box to collect their Valentines. A sack will be given to those children who do not bring a decorated box.  Also, as a reminder of Quest’s Wellness policy all Valentine’s that are handed out cannot be food items or candy.   We are also planning to watch some short (rated G) Valentine’s Day video clips.  Please indicate below your permission for your child to participate in these activities.  We are also asking that parents please donate $3 to the office to help with the cost of cookies, games, and art supplies.

Read-A-Thon

downloadWe are planning on doing a read-a-thon on the 20th of February with the whole school. We will take an hour during classroom time to have our class read. They will get pledges for reading from friends and family. Those pledges will be put in the locked box that was used for the baskets. Thanks for your help with this fundraiser!
