Testing and Hill Aerospace Field Trip

Image result for testing free clip artTOMORROW your student(s) will begin taking their End of Year  (EOY) i-Ready computer assessment for Language Arts on Monday and Math on Tuesday, they will continue with assessments throughout the rest of the week.

Please help your student(s) come to school prepared and ready to go by, getting a good night sleep and, eating a good breakfast. Having your student(s) to school on time will also help. It gives students a chance to play and  “Chill Out” with friends before taking their tests. We will be giving the kids a snack to help them gear up for testing success! Please remind your student to take their time and to just do their very best.

Moon Journal

Screen Shot 2015-10-08 at 9.50.12 AMYour child will be given a “Moon Journal” to keep in their green folders from now until May 23rd, so they will be able to observe the moon either during recess or at home and draw an accurate picture of the shape of the moon they saw that day.  This should give the kids a chance to see the moon as it goes through all of its phases (full, three quarter, half, crescent, and new).  Undoubtedly there will be some cloudy days that prevent them from seeing the moon, so they can either draw clouds or visit the following website which displays the phase of the moon according to your location/time zone:  http://www.moonpage.com/index.html
Here’s another great link to see when the moon is rising, setting, and which phase it is in:  Moonrise, moonset, and moon phases

This is an important part of the 1st grade science curriculum so thanks for your help and encouragement!
