We will be talking about the moon and as part of it students are supposed to track it each day. Please for the next 3 weeks track the moon each night and have your child draw a picture of what they see.

Positive Me Week!

Self-EsteemThis week is Positive Me week. This event is designed to help students identify and work on their self-esteem and how to care for themselves.  Here is the list of dress up fun for each day:

Monday-”Scare Away Negativity”
Wear your favorite accessory such as a bracelet, necklace, pin, hair bow, belt, or tie. 
Please no hats.

Tuesday- “Scare Away Drugs”
Wear Red (Uniform shirt)

Wednesday- “Scare Away Bad Health”
Wear Crazy socks

Thursday- “Scare Away Bullies”
Show your team spirit by wearing a team jersey, t-shirt, or school spirit shirt (uniform pants required)

Friday- “Scare up some fun”
Wear a costume or wear orange

Place your order and make your payment online.  Unfortunately, we are not able to accept cash or check for book orders due to school policy.  

Parent Teacher Conferences

We are excited to begin Parent-Teacher Conferences this year on Thursday, October 27th.  Below is the schedule for conferences.  Please notice that the schedule only allows for 10 minutes per conference, including transition time.  Please bear this in mind while we are meeting, and we appreciate any help you can give in keeping conferences short and concise so that we can stay on schedule.  Thank you so much! -Mrs. Hill & Mrs. Nelson

Zoo Field Trip Information

Zoo EntranceOur Hogle Zoo Field Trip is nearly here, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd.  Here are a few things to know before we go:

1-  We appreciate those who have already made their field trip donation.  If you haven’t please pay your $4.00 donation to the Q1 office.  We greatly appreciate anything that you can donate for our trip.  Thank you for your generosity!  

2- Wear school uniform with RED shirt, sunscreen and good walking shoes! Please dress for the weather.  It will be pretty cold, please dress accordingly and bring a jacket. 

3- Bring a cold sack lunch from home in a disposable bag with your child’s name.  Everything must be completely disposable. 

4- Be on time. Arrive at school by 8:30am.  Bus departs at 8:45am.  We will leave the zoo around 1:00-1:15pm, returning to Quest around 2:00 or 2:30pm.

5- Parent chaperones: Please bring a backpack or bag to carry the lunches of the students in your group.  And a lunch for yourself.  Please arrive and meet in our room at 8:15am to go over last minute instructions and get a copy of the Zoo Groups.  If you are bringing siblings, it is necessary for you to drive your own vehicle.  Please be prepared to pay for yourself and any extra children you bring.  For those driving, plan on meeting us at the zoo at 9:30-9:45am.  The zoo address is 2600 E. Sunnyside Avenue, Salt Lake, UT, 84108.  
  • Parent Volunteers:                                                                      We are ALWAYS looking for more volunteers so don’t be shy. You may join your child’s group to help with the group management. Please click on the link below to see which group your student is in and which parent chaperones are over each group. Hogle Zoo Information & Yearly Activities Permission Slip

cartoon_animals_05We just wanted to thank all the parents who have so graciously made their YEARLY field trip  donation. If you haven’t had a chance to pay your donation to the office,  please do so ON OR BEFORE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 16th. If  you are unable to donate the $15 at this time, feel free to donate $5 for now. The cost for the bus transportation is over $700. That does not include the Hogle Zoo entrance fees. Again we have so many fun
field trips planned, we would hate to have to
cancel them for lack of funds.

  • Important Details:                                                                        We will be lining up and heading out to the buses at 8:40. We need to be back to the bus by 1:30.  will be doing a quick student count so we make sure we have everyone, then be back on the way so we won’t be late for end of day dismissal.  
  • If you are a volunteer, PLEASE plan on being here by 8:15 so we can give you your student list and go over any last minute details.
  • If you would like to bring a younger sibling,  you will need to plan on driving your own car. In years past, the entrance fee for parent volunteers has been covered by Quest, however,  please plan on bringing funds to pay for anyone OTHER your student(s) just in case.
  • Students need to bring a DISPOSABLE SACK LUNCH with their name on it.  
  • Volunteers, you will need to bring some sort of bag or backpack in which to carry your assigned group of student’s lunches in. You may eat lunch with your students whenever they get hungry.

Hogle Zoo Field Trip Reminder

Zoo EntranceOur Hogle Zoo Field trip will be Thursday, September 22nd. We are still in need of field trip donations. Please pay your $4.00 donation to the Q1 office.  Thank you!  

With the date change we understand that chaperone availability may have changed also.  We are requesting ALL chaperones to sign-up on our Zoo Field Trip volunteer form.  We are only allotted 5 chaperone spots on the bus, we already have our chaperone bus riders.  All other parents are welcome to drive their own vehicle to the zoo or carpool with other parents.  These are the following chaperones we have coming already…and THANK YOU! 
**We would prefer having at least two more chaperones to pair up, if you would be able to chaperone and help one of the existing chaperones please email Mrs. Nelson asap****
