Zoo Essentials

cartoon_animals_05Our Hogle Zoo Field Trip is nearly here, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th.
Here are a few things to know before we go:

1-  Please pay your $3.00 (or more) donation to the Q1 office.  Your donation will help make our field trip a reality.  We greatly appreciate anything that you can donate for our trip.  Thank you for your generosity!

You may also pay online here:  Quest Online Payments

2- Wear school uniform with RED shirt, sunscreen and good walking shoes!

3- Bring a cold sack lunch from home in a disposable bag with your child’s name.

4- Be on time. Arrive at school by 8:30am.  Bus departs at 8:45am.  We will leave the zoo around 1:00-1:15pm, returning to Quest around 2:00 or 2:30pm.

5- Parent chaperones: Please bring a backpack or bag to carry the lunches of the students in your group.  And a lunch for yourself.  We are planning on all the parents that requested to come on our online permission form.  We have recorded bus or driving as per your requests.  If your status has changed, please let us know ASAP.  If you are bringing siblings, it is necessary for you to drive your own vehicle.  JUST IN CASE… Please be prepared to pay for yourself and any extra children you bring.  For those driving, plan on meeting us at the zoo at 9:30-9:45am.  The zoo address is 2600 E. Sunnyside Avenue, Salt Lake, UT, 84108

** All students should arrive at school by 8:30am on Tuesday, September 8. We are planning on all students riding the bus to the zoo. However, parents who are driving to the zoo may take their student with them. If you choose to drive your child, you must check your student out at the Q1 office after we take roll.

If you wish to remain longer at the zoo or to drive your student home, you must get a Quest release form from Mrs. Nelson. We want to be confident that all of our students are accounted for, whether on the bus or with signed confirmation that they are in the custody of their parent.

Zoo Field Trip Donation

Our Hogle Zoo field trip is fast approaching.  Thank you to the parents of the following students who have made their $3 donation to cover the bus expenses:  Charlene, Kaylee, Alexa, Leah, Peyton S, Isabella, and Brynn.
If you have not paid for your child’s donation yet, please feel free to handle that by Wednesday to the office. Thank you to all the parent volunteers willing to chaperone as well! I very much appreciate it.

Weekly Information

WE have been practicing school and classroom procedures and expectations. WE are getting better and faster (most of the time), which is very important. Following our school and classroom rules and procedures keeps your student safe,  happy, and our classroom running smoothly.  Please talk with your student about what our school and classroom rules are. Ask how they are doing in the process of being respectful to self, others and the school?  Are they listening to the teacher when it is learning time? Are they walking quietly down the hall keeping their eyes forward and  hands to themselves? Can they tell you what the correct behaviors in the lunchroom and bathroom are? We will continue working on all these throughout the year, because practice makes perfect.

First full week of 1st grade!

Screen Shot 2015-08-21 at 2.53.18 PMI will begin sending your student’s homework folder home next week, however it won’t contain any homework YET. It may contain some classwork and school information however. This will be a great way for your student to practice being responsible; in that they will be bringing it from school to home then back to school. Have your student show you their folder  and any work that they have in there…THEN, have them put it right back in their backpack so it will be ready for the next day.
Screen Shot 2015-08-21 at 3.03.32 PMWe will start going to the library September 14th.  First checkout will be November 2nd.
