Reading Minutes are now available in “Our Google Classroom”

Dear Parents and Students –
I hope you had a wonderful Halloween! Thank you to all of our volunteers the past few activities, it has been great to see you and watch the great interaction you have with your own child and the others in our grade. I love how this school is a family and how we are always working together to put the KIDS first! Thank you for being so supportive and willing to help out. Without the teamwork with all of us, I don’t think Quest would be as great as it is!!!!
Main reason I put out this post is to inform students and their parents that I have made the reading minutes available in the Google Classroom. The students do not have to get the paper from there, but it is available. There are two (informational and literature) they just need the one that matches the type of book they are reading. They read all week, fill in the questions (1 a day) and turn in WITH PARENT SIGNATURE on the following Monday. This will not go on their grades, but it helps me stay informed on reading at home, and each slip is put in a drawing for them to win a prize. I want them to want to read at home!!! Research supports reading at home and the more they do the higher test scores go up, learning techniques, and problem solving skills. In a win win situation, I want to support that in my classroom. I will  keep them as a hard copy in my classroom if students just want to grab them there.
Thanks again for all your help,

Mrs. Young

PS – don’t forget to sign up for PTC!!! See you next week!

About angie.young

Hi - My name is Mrs. Young. I am excited to start a new adventure teaching at Quest Academy. I have taught previously in Weber School District in 2, 3, 4, and 6th grades. This will be the start of my 13 year. I also taught in Ogden District, before receiving my Bachelor's of Science, in special education preschool and long term subbing for math in the Jr. High Schools. My hobbies are my family!!! AND singing and acting. I have always loved art and theater. I hope to incorporate art into the technology and science to help our young minds expand to new measures. My family has been part of the education system since I was born. I have always been taught to have a passion for learning and growing. I am very excited to help my students this year to achieve all their goals and never stop fulfilling their passions in life. Welcome to 5th GRADE!!!
