Weekly Update: December 2 – 6

Hello Parents –
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Holiday. Only 3 weeks and we will get Winter Break. This time of year is so hard to keep kids focused and working. I know that the yuckies have been going around, so remind kiddos to wash and use tissues to help keep down the germs. I try to clean the classroom with lysol everyday. Thank you for your support and help getting kiddos here in the morning and trying not to schedule appointments during learning time.
We will be having  our Secret Santa Exchange on December 19 in the afternoon. Also December 20 is our Party, with hot coco and cookies. I will be putting the permission slip up soon and sign up sheet for anyone willing to donate items. Students MAY bring 2 snugglies that day and also wear their PJ’s for Dollar Dress Down.

We are learning:
Reading : Main Idea and Theme

Math: Adding / Subtracting Fractions with different denominators

Science: Testing on landforms and starting matter soon

Writing: Writing a good paragraph that has a topic sentence and multiple details that stay on topic.

We are reading the Christmas Carol in class and a few more fun books. I try to throw in some different curriculum during this time of year to encourage kids to come to school. I know how hard it is, Christmas Fever. But do your best to motivate them at home too. This is a great group of kids I have. Working hard and taking on the challenges of everyday learning.
Thanks again for all your support,
Mrs. Young

About angie.young

Hi - My name is Mrs. Young. I am excited to start a new adventure teaching at Quest Academy. I have taught previously in Weber School District in 2, 3, 4, and 6th grades. This will be the start of my 13 year. I also taught in Ogden District, before receiving my Bachelor's of Science, in special education preschool and long term subbing for math in the Jr. High Schools. My hobbies are my family!!! AND singing and acting. I have always loved art and theater. I hope to incorporate art into the technology and science to help our young minds expand to new measures. My family has been part of the education system since I was born. I have always been taught to have a passion for learning and growing. I am very excited to help my students this year to achieve all their goals and never stop fulfilling their passions in life. Welcome to 5th GRADE!!!
