This Week in Math:
We are still working on mastering our multiplication facts!  Students take a timed test each day, and will continue each day until our Multiplication Madness Party on Wednesday, February 14th.  Students should be about two thirds of the way through passing off their multiplication facts.  We are passing off facts in this order: x0, x1, x2, x5, x9, x3, x4, x6, x7, x8, x10, x11, x12.  Mastering multiplication facts requires practice and repetition.  Just practicing at school will not be enough.  Students should also be practicing their multiplication facts at home each night.

This week in math we will finish mastering finding the area of shapes.  We will be adding composite shapes to the mix!  Towards the end of the week we will begin our study of basic fractions.

This Week in Language Arts:
Unit 4 Week 2 OutlineHomework:
Your most important homework is to read for 20 minutes every night.  You can print the reading calendar below to keep track of your reading.  Just color in one snowflake for each night you read!  Bring January’s filled out calendar to school on Thursday for a special prize for doing your reading every day!
January Reading LogFebruary Reading LogYou should also be practicing your multiplication facts for a few minutes every night.  You can choose how you want to practice your facts.  You can play an online game or app, use flashcards, write down multiplication equations, or have a parent or older sibling quiz you.  These are all great ways to practice!

We are going to have a FABULOUS week!
