SUPER FUN HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES AND CHRISTMAS PARTY REMINDERS

Please don’t forget that this Friday is an early out day, so plan accordingly. We are all excited to begin our break, but please don’t pick up your student early. I would hate for them to miss out on any of the fun activities planned for that day.

We have several students that will be having a birthday while we are on break. We are also celebrating (Unbirthday AKA  1/2 BDay’s) for those students who have birthdays in June. If you would like to have your student celebrate that special event this week it needs to be before Friday.

Please remind your student that, while we will be doing fun, creative activities, we will also be working on some IMPORTANT MATH AND LANGUAGE ARTS CONCEPTS. In order for them to participate in ALL the “FUN” activities, they MUST meet our classroom expectations and continue to follow instructions/directions.

The following is a current (I hope) list of parent volunteers for our class Christmas Party this Friday from 11:30- 12:50. If  I don’t have your name on the list, and you would would like to help, or I missed your name, please let me know ASAP.
1-Nancy Jarvis
2-David and Christy Olson
3-Tiffany Adams
4-Thelissa Mead
5-Jackie Sparks

  • MONDAY I will be reading the book “The Polar Express” to the student’s, then THURSDAY, we will be viewing the movie. I try to make this a memorable experience complete with Polar Express Train tickets, hot chocolate, candy canes (Which we are in the process of growing), and a “special magical gift.”

  • Friday morning at 9:00, we will be singing our hearts out at the much loved Annual QUEST Academy Christmas Caroling event over in the Q2 gym. This favorite activity is sure to be enjoyed by students and teachers alike.  Friday afternoon from 11:35-12:50, we will be having our First grade Christmas Party. Students will have the opportunity to participate in each of the SUPER FUN ACTIVITIES offered in each classroom.

REMINDER OF OUR MISSION K9 SERVICE PROJECT-MAZZIE VISITS OUR CLASS

http://qacblogs.org/ronda.hills/files/2016/11/Mission-K9-Rescue.jpg

This year for one of our service learning projects we will be collecting coins to donate to Mission K-9 Rescue.

As a First Grade we HAVE been learning that everyone can serve and help others. Though our children may be young, they too can make an important difference and our small contributions of a coin here and a few coins there will truly add up to something great.

We are also learning about financial literacy principles; for example, we are learning about the principle of saving and we are learning that, to earn money, one must work.  We are encouraging our students to do extra jobs at home for family or friends to earn coins to add to our Mission K-9 Rescue fund.

Mazzie, a war dog who was abandoned in Kuwait after his service, visited our classroom to wish us a Merry Christmas and to thank us for choosing K9 Rescue as our service learning project! These war dogs provide a great service to our military and are often abandoned after their missions are complete.  As mentioned in a previous post, our classroom is collecting spare change to donate to K9 Rescue, an organization that rescues war dogs after their service.  This will be first grade’s Service Learning Project for the year.
