We have a Valentine’s Day party planned on February 14th at 9:45 AM. We will have a few games and crafts to enjoy. At the end of the day, we will be passing out valentines before early dismissal.
First grade students will make and decorate their own valentines bags, so there is no need to bring a bag or box from home. Students are welcome to bring valentines to share, and they can include a treat. We have 26 students in the class, so please have your child sign who the valentine is from without addressing them to specific students. This helps us avoid delays with 26 first graders reading names and sorting cards. Please use the link to allow your students to participate on February 14th.

Dear Parents,
What an exciting week! The kiddos are so eager to share their animal reports and presentations with you. They have been working diligently to complete everything for their presentations.
A reminder that parent-teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, which will be early release days. There will be no school on Friday for a teacher workday.
As we pass the middle of the school year, it is very important that the kids read every day and work on high-frequency words. This will help improve their fluency and accuracy, as well as practice retelling what they have read.
Thank you so much for your support! Ms,Strain

Dear Parents,
As we return to school, we will be focusing on mid-year testing from January 13th to 17th. The students will be tested on correct letter sounds, whole words read, and fluency and accuracy in reading. In math, they will be assessed on Missing Number Fluency, Quantity discrimination and computation skills. Please take some time to help your child review these concepts and ensure they come prepared—well-fed and rested this week.
Additionally, we have a day off on January 20th to observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place on January 29th and 30th, with no school on January 31st. If you’re interested in attending the Book Fair, it is scheduled for the week of January 27th to 30th.
Thank you once again for your support. I look forward to getting back to learning and growing with your children!
Warm regards,
Ms. Strain

Dear Parents,
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all of the thoughtful Christmas gifts and cards. I truly enjoyed reading the cards that the kiddos wrote or drew; they brought me so much joy. I hope you had a wonderful holiday season!

Dear Parents,
As we approach the last week of school before winter break, I want to share a few reminders for our students:
Additionally, our class Christmas party will be on December 20th. Please use the link to fill out the Google form for permission for cookie decorating.
I know the holidays are a time for fun, but please remember to read with your child daily for at least 20 minutes and practice addition and subtraction skills within 20. This will help keep their minds engaged and prepare them for mid-year testing upon our return to school.
Thank you for your support!
Ms. Strain
