September 30th-4th

Dear Parents,

The field trip to Happy Pumpkin corn maze is this Friday. We will be leaving the school at 8:40 AM. Please ensure your student arrives on time and is dressed in uniform pants with a uniform or spirit shirt, as this is not a dress-down day.

Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled for October 14th and 15th. I encourage you to sign up using the provided link to choose a time for you and your student to visit with me and celebrate their achievements.

Additionally, the Trick or Treat trot is coming up on October 26th. If your student would like to participate, please mark your calendars.

Lastly, please help your student practice addition and subtraction facts within 10. We are focusing on mastering this concept to build a strong foundation for their math success.

Thank you for your support!

September 23rd-27th

Dear Families,

I hope this message finds you well! I am excited to share that we will be going on our yearly field trip to Happy Pumpkin on October 4th at 8:40 AM. We will return after first grade’s scheduled lunch time and will enjoy a picnic on the back lawn of the school upon our return.

Please take a moment to fill out the Google form regarding your child’s lunch options. Additionally, I will need 5 parents to ride the bus with us and help supervise a group of students during the trip, as well as assist with lunch distribution when we return. While all parents are welcome to join us, we can only accommodate 5 parents on the bus. For those not riding the bus, please note that entry at Happy Pumpkin will need to be paid.

Lastly, we kindly ask that no siblings attend the field trip, as we will have over 100 first graders participating.

Thank you for your support, and I look forward to a fun and memorable day!

Best regards,
Ms. Strain

September 9th-13th

Dear Parents,

We have made it through our third week of school! The kiddos have started learning the expectations of literacy and math centers and are doing a great job finding learning programs independently. This week, we will begin introducing small groups into our routine while still practicing our centers.

I made a little mistake on the calendar regarding the start date of the Cookie Dough Fundraiser. I have updated the calendars, and the start date will be Monday, September 16th. Thank you to all of you who signed up to volunteer; it is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Ms. Strain

September 3rd-6th

Dear Parents,

We are getting in the groove of things and learning our routines and expectations. The kiddos are earning gear points and doing great at understanding the concept of hard work paying off with rewards. We will finish the last week of review with Smart Start and math review, and then begin our weekly units in Wonders.

If you would like to volunteer to help with gear point exchange or class parties, please use the link.

Thank you for your continued support! Ms. Strain

Week August 26th-30th

Dear Families,

We had a fantastic first week of school! I have enjoyed getting to know all the personalities in our classroom and creating our classroom family. We loved reading the book Our Class Is A Family and learning that every member has something special to bring.

Thank you for remembering your take-home folders on Friday. They will be sent home on Monday with a reading passage, high-frequency words, and information about our i-Ready math program. Please remember to read for 20 minutes every night and mark it on your calendar to return at the end of the month.

Picture day is Wednesday, August 28th, for badges. Also, please remember there is no school on August 30th. If you have not sent headphones with your child to use and stay at school, please do so.

Thank you for your continued support!

Best regards,
Ms. Strain

Kids Read Now!

The State has an amazing program called Kids Read Now! This program allows our students, Kindergarten through 3rd Grade, to select FOUR FREE BOOKS to read during the summer (they’ll be shipped to your house). The intent is to encourage reading during the summer months and to help students maintain their reading skills. Orders will only be fulfilled once we have indicated  that every child has made their selections. Please click here for an instructional video on selecting and receiving these books. This link will also be available on your student’s class blog. Please select your books by Friday, May 3rd . Thanks for all you do. Happy summer and happy READING!
