Can Food Drive

The grade (K-5 & 6-9) that has the most cans donated by Wednesday, November 2nd will get a free dress down the following day. Cans will also be counted again on Monday, November 7th. The winning grade will get another free dress down day.  This means Q1 will need to collect the cans in your room so we can have the count on the 2nd and 7th. Q2 will put theirs in the designated boxes in the foyer.

Now for the fun part. If a total of 5,000 cans (between 5-6 cans per student) are collected, students K-5 will enjoy karaoke during their lunchtime for a day.  Jr. High students will enjoy watching Mr. and Mrs. Smedley (avid Ute fans) sport BYU attire from head to toe for a day. When 10,000 cans (11 cans per student) are collected, students will watch some teachers participate in a pie eating contest. And finally, when 15,000 cans (16 cans per student) are collected, administration will be forced to kiss a big, fat pig on the mouth.

Let’s do it!

No Homework Tonight!

Because of Halloween and because I am super nice, I let the students work on their homework in class today, so they don’t have any tonight. 🙂 I hope they enjoy the Trick-or-Treating and hope to see everyone tomorrow wide eyed and ready to learn! 🙂

Holiday Basket Fundraiser

POQA is doing an annual gift basket fundraiser and has asked each fifth grade class to come up with a theme which parents will donate to which will then be raffled off.  I tried to have our class vote on a theme today for our class but it did not go so well.  The students voted on a “music” gift basket but I think it would be easier and more affordable to do a “Family Game Night” basket.  If you would be interested in donating various card games, board games, legos, puzzles,  treats, etc that would be fun for a family, you are welcome to send the donations to school with your child and POQA will compile the donations into a gift basket representative of our class.  The “game night” donations will be collected throughout the month of November and will be on display for ticket purchase from December 5th to the 15th.
