Heads up!
I usually allow the kids to complete their IXL math assignment in class but today we did not have enough time for them to finish. Please make sure they do 20 minutes or get 75% of 6th grade H.4 tonight.
Also, because we do not have school Friday, we will have our spelling test tomorrow and all of the sort work homework will be due!
I still have some students that have not turned in their maturation and student book order permission slips. Please send them asap.

Shortened week
Because there is no school on Friday because it is the end of the quarter, we will be having our spelling test on Thursday. That means that the sort work for this week will need to be done before Thursday night. It can either be done tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday or it could be done so that two assignments were done on Tuesday and one on Wednesday or one on Tuesday and two on Wednesday. Whichever works best for your child is fine by me.
Also, we will be putting our Leprechaun traps together on Wednesday afternoon (Due to Mission to Mars starting on Thursday) so all students and STEM groups must have their needed supplies brought from home.
IXL was done in class today so the majority of the students shouldn’t have that as homework.

Mission to Mars! (Shout out to Parents!)
As a fifth grade, we are planning a mission to Mars! This mission is presented by Hill Air Force Base and will launch on April 25th in the Swenson Gym on the campus of Weber State. This STEM project requires a flight commander for each habitat (that is where the parents come in!) We will need a total of 6 parents volunteers to supervise each habitat. This will require an hour a week of volunteer time every Thursday from 9:30-10:30 and all day on April 25th. It is important that you are dependable and able to be here every week, as your students will need your guidance. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to communicate with three different teams that make up your habitat and make sure they are working together and doing their assigned jobs according to the timeline. This STEM project will begin this Thursday at 9:30! Parent Volunteers will be chosen grade wide, NOT class wide. We need to know by tomorrow via email or blog post if you are interested in volunteering so we can prepare for take off. This will be so much fun and we are looking forward to an exciting adventure.

March STEM Project
Our March STEM project is to build a Leprachaun trap that can be triggered. The students will bring supplies from home and work together in groups to design the best trap. They met this week to discuss what type of trap would be built and hopefully decided who needed to bring what from home to facilitate the construction that will take place next week in class. This message is simply a reminder for students. ☘️

Class reward
Our class has earned 20 compliment points which means that we’ve earned a reward. Our class voted on popcorn and a “movie” (it will only be 30 minutes) . I am required to inform parents that we will be having popcorn and I need to be made aware of any student that can’t have it.
Please let me know if there are any issues I need to be made aware of. It will more than likely be Thursday of next week.
