Week of January 13-17
We have a busy week ahead. We have started Mid-Year testing as well as our usual curriculum, so your students will be tired more than usual. Please make sure they are getting enough sleep and a good breakfast so that they are able to perform their best for these tests.
This week we have changed up the 4th grade’s work. They are now doing a program and they will not have weekly spelling and vocabulary tests each week. But we still HIGHLY encourage your student to read 20 minutes every night. Reading is so important for these students that may hate or struggle to read. Practice makes perfect, right? We thank you for all of your support this year. We are excited to show you how well your students are doing in a couple of weeks at Parent Teacher Conference.

4th Grade:
This week we are learning about shape and number patterns. If you notice a pattern while you are out and about, help your student recognize the pattern.
5th Grade:
This week we are learning how to subtract fractions with different denominators. Help your child by quizzing them to find the least common denominator of any given fraction. We are focusing on 2-12 denominators. You can challenge your student by asking them about subtracting measurements. They will have to find a common denominator before it can be subtracted.
Week of November 18-22nd
The weeks are flying by and we are making so much progress. We love having your student in our class! Each one is so wonderful and makes our class complete.
We have been teaching your student parts of speech and the parts of a paragraph. This week on Thursday, November 21st we will be having a small party where we will be building the sandwich that represents the parts of speech and parts of a paragraph that we have been learning. They will be getting a hoagie sandwich with meat cheese and toppings, as well as chips and a drink. We will be having this activity right after recess around 10:20 before they all go back to their general education classes for lunch and recess. Everyone signed the permission slips at the beginning of the year to approve activities like these. The kids are so excited for this activity and have been looking forward to it for over a month now. Look for pictures later this week of our activity.
Also 4th grade will have an in house field trip with the Living Planet Aquarium with their general education teacher on Friday that ties into their Science Lessons.
