We are very excited to welcome our new students into our kindergarten class! In preparation for the upcoming school year, please subscribe to our blog by clicking on “Subscribe to our blog”(found on the right sidebar).
The first week of school (Aug 17-22) we will NOT be having regularly scheduled Kindergarten classes. Instead, we will be giving each individual student an extensive test to help us better assess where your child is academically. We use this information to customize each child’s education and to challenge them at their current level in reading and math. Click on the following link to sign-up for a testing appointment. We have been learning about forces of push and pull. We were presented with the challenge of knocking down a wall without knocking down houses/buildings around it (like the Berlin wall). They had such a great time figuring out the right amount of force needed to be successful at this challenge! I have the best class ever!
We are now beginning Unit 10 in Language Arts. Below are the sight words, oral vocabulary words, letters, and sounds we will be mastering during the next 3 weeks. In addition, we continue to read decodable books and passages. Encourage us to read the passages we bring home each week for our reading challenge. We are also writing sentences about the texts we read.
As a class in math, we will be exploring measurement; length, height, and weight. Individually, the students are working to master their current selected math standard. Ask them about their Nearpod lessons and encourage them to try the challenge activity when they master the math standard.
In science and STEM, we are exploring forces and motions. We are working together in small groups to solve problems using the principles of force and motion that we are learning.
