Book Order Due Wednesday!

This week we are doing our one and only book order for the year! If you didn’t make it to the book fair (or even if you did), we would love to have you order books this week.

We have a fun day in class when our book order comes in. If we get enough orders Scholastic sends us extras for our students, and it’s fun opening the box and handing out the books. I am sending home a paper flyer, but those are not the only books available. If you go online they have books for all ages, even adults. I’ll just send the order home wiht your student. Their books are very reasonably priced, and they have other items, too.

Please take the time to go online and order books. The due date is Wednesday (the 27th)!

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is coming up next week! On Thursday please send Valentine’s for the class with your student. We have 24 students in our class. It’s best not to write them out to specific friends, because it goes much more smoothly if they can just drop them in each other’s bags. Remember:
-Candy is not allowed, so please just send cards (or cards with other prizes like pencils, stickers, etc.)
-We will be making our own bags for Valentines so no need to send a bag or box.
-We will be passing them out Thursday at 2:00, and we will be doing a small Valentine’s Day activity as a class.

Also, friend “Ram” Grams will be on sale Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday next week before and after school for 25 cents each. Kindergarten-4th grade Ram Grams will be sold in the Q1 building, and 5th grade-junior high Ram Grams will be sold in Q2. Ram Grams will be delivered on Thursday morning to the students’ classrooms.

Hi, Parents! Our class is in need of tissues and Clorox wipes. If you have any extras, we could really use them!

Here is a fun video we made in our class starring five of our classmates. Enjoy!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Hello, parents!

Thanks for being patient with me while I had a few sick days off. I am much better now! I apologize for missing tutoring after school, and our week will be back to normal next week.

I am using Bloomz for parent- teacher conference sign ups. Please log on and select a time that works for you and your family. Remember spots fill up fast, so make sure you sign up now to get the spot you want. Because of a schedule conflict I will be holding Parent-Teacher Conferences on Monday, January 28th and Wednesday January 30th (instead of Tuesday and Thursday)

If you are not able to come on Monday or Wednesday, just let me know and I will meet with you Friday before school or sometime after school another day. I can’t wait to meet with you!

Thanks!

Homework

Hi, parents!

As you know, I sent home a writing assignment for the students. We have many students in the class who are struggling with writing. Not only do we need practice handwriting, but also composing writing, using punctuation, spelling, and other important skills.

Because of this, I am assigning writing homework for Monday through Thursday every day. Right now, they are copying a page from any book they want. I want them to see what good writing looks like. I am looking for perfect spelling, grammar, and punctuation since they are just copying from a book.

If you have a student that struggles with writing, I am taking this into consideration. I don’t want this to be stressful; I want them to try to improve. The only way to improve is practicing every day!

So, homework now looks like this:
1. READ every night for at least 20 minutes. (Have them read out loud to you! It helps in so many ways!)
2. WRITE a page each night. (These assignments will vary.)
3. Math worksheets will be sent home once in a while.
4. We have 2 more book reports this year.

Thanks for your support at home!
