Tomorrow

A couple of announcements for tomorrow:
  • Third grade won a free dress down day tomorrow because we brought in the most box tops! Keep up the good work!!
  • We are having a flashlight read-a-thon for those who earned enough Class Dojo points last week. Participating students need to bring a small flashlight. We are not going to be having pillows and blankets this time.
Thanks,
Ms. Young

Hooper City’s Annual Halloween Haunt

This message was sent to teachers along with a white paper bag for each student. The bags will be sent home on Friday.

It is once again time for Hooper City’s Annual Halloween Haunt. It will be held on Saturday, October 18th, from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m., at Hooper Park, 5600 South 6100 West. The favorite part of the Haunt is the luminaries made by the school children. We are asking your class to help us with this project. The luminaries can be made on the white paper sack, by drawing, pinpoking a picture, or stapling/taping on a picture. If you would please also have your students fold down the top of the sack, that would be most appreciated. This helps the bags stay open and not catch fire. We will be collecting completed bags on Monday, October 6th. If you are not able to help with this, would you please return the bags, so we can use them next year.

Thanks so much,
Sheri Bingham

Dear Parents,

Our first SEP’s will be held on September 25th from 3:30 to 5:30.  This is an opportunity for me to meet with you and discuss your child’s progress in Third Grade.  It also an opportunity for you to help me best meet your student’s needs.  All parents will be given individual conference times throughout the year.

Thanks,
Ms. Young

New This Week

Hello,

Class has been going wonderfully! We are having a great time getting to know one another and getting back into the swing of things. Everyone is working hard and learning exciting new things (ask about our sun song:)). This last week we started cursive and learned about our solar system. This week we will be starting differentiated groups in Words Their Way and assessing high frequency words.

Some announcements for this week:
I put the homework grades in each weekend. I try my best not to make mistakes, but I am human! I will not be offended if you notice and let me know that I didn’t give credit for an assignment that you know has been completed. There are also some assignments and reading logs this week that had no names on them.

If you signed up to be a volunteer I will be contacting you sometime this week with more information. If you would like to volunteer please let me know.

We are also starting after school tutoring. Tutoring will be by invitation, but parent suggestions will be taken into account.

Library is starting on Thursday!

Thanks,
Ms. Young

P.S. We are loving our song and a few people wanted the words at home, so here they are! Sun Song

Homework for the Week of September 1, 2014

***Just a few updates***
-If you report the sorts and the reading log on the blog you do not have to turn in the sorts or the reading log into me. I trust you!
-If you report sorts or the reading log on the blog you only need to do it one time. Preferably sometime on Thursday or Friday.
-Feel free to use normal paper (lined or unlined) for the sorts. The attachments are mostly for instructions.
-From now on I will post all attached documents in pdf form so that everyone can open them. I’m sorry about the test review last week in word document form!
-Please make sure every page of homework has your child’s name on it. Sometimes the papers get separated.
