Just Checking In

I just wanted parents to know that we had a great day today! We are coming along with our weekly writing project and our Multiplication Madness is going great. I hope that everyone in class will pass off their multiplication facts and get to have the whole banana split! If you are not sure how to help your child with their multiplication, flash cards are available at Walmart for about $1.50 and their are tons of great games online that will help them practice.

I also wanted to give a friendly reminder about subscribing to the blog so that everyone can be well informed.

Thanks,
Ms. Young

Multiplication Madness

We are hitting multiplication really hard in math right now.  Starting today (Tuesday, November 19th) we will begin Multiplication Madness!  The students are expected to drill their math facts at home also.  The students have to pass off their 0′s to 10′s for a required grade. Every student will be given 20 problems to pass off in one minute. Multiplication facts are a huge part of the third grade math core curriculum. The students will have to spend time at home working on these facts in order to pass them off in the time table we have set.  The students will have the opportunity to pass off their multiplication facts as many times as they can before Valentine’s Day.  We will focus on one fact a week.

Our Multiplication Madness Banana Split Celebration will take place on Valentine’s Day from 2:00-3:00.  It will take place of our class Valentine’s Day Party.

**During Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break, students will need to spend time studying multiplication facts so they are prepared.  Weekends are a great time to work on multiplication facts (since there is no homework).**

Each part of the Banana Split is one of the multiplication facts that needs to be passed off.  You will get that part of the Banana Split ONLY if you pass off that actual fact.

Parent Volunteers

I am so grateful for all of the support from the parents of our class. I hope to be able to utilize all of your unique skills. However, for the next week or two I am not going to have parents in the classroom. I am hoping to get our procedures and management set in stone before we introduce new people in the classroom. Thank you for your support!

SIncerely,
Ms. Young

Mistake on the Homework Schedule

Many of you have already notice that I put the wrong thing on the organizer for math this week. The attachments are correct but the organizer is wrong! Lesson 5 was yesterday’s homework and lesson 6 is tonight’s homework. Sorry about that!!!

Please make sure homework is brought to school everyday, including the initialed organizer.

Thanks,
Ms. Young
