Valentines and 100th day of School

100 days of school
The 100th Day of School lands on Wednesday, February 1 and we are excited to celebrate!  Each child is welcome to bring a collection of 100 items that day to school (100 buttons, 100 signatures, 100 pom poms…) It’s fun to see what 100 of something looks like!  Just a couple guidelines:
* Please let your child only bring in a collection that they can carry and manage by themselves (in fact it would be nice if it could fit in their cubbies)
* No food items (per Quest policy)
*Please no items that have been banned (like Pokemon cards)
*Have fun thinking of a creative or unique collection you want to bring :)

Nonfood Valentines Reminder

mazeStores are now stocked and ready for Valentine’s Day.  To help you properly prepare for our in class celebrations, here are the Quest guidelines in regards to Valentine’s:

“Per Quest’s wellness policy, all food in the classroom must be preapproved. Furthermore, parental permission is also required for students to consume food during class parties. Due to this policy—as in years past—student Valentines cannot contain edible items. Suggestions for nonfood Valentines include pencils, erasers, bubbles, stickers, etc. Please note that such items, including Valentine cards, are in no way required.”

ALL NEW HOMEWORK! Week Jan 23rd – Jan 27th

I wanted to change homework and I tried to last week a little bit. However, after meeting with administration this week I am going to really change it. From now on time spent on homework will be with reading and math. There will be no more spelling, or word sorts as we do this in class during our center time.

Here is the New Homework Tracker.

Here is the link to your child’s Phonics Fluency Stories. Please print Lesson 30 and have your child read it each night. Time them for 1 minute and have them read as many words as they can. If they get to the bottom they will go back to the top and continue reading until the 1 minute is up.

-PLEASE make sure your child is bringing their blue folder everyday to school. There are passages in them that are another resource for reading I am asking that you have them read it EVERY NIGHT.

They need to be timed for 1 minute and then using their retell ropes (in back of sheet protector) to tell you as much as they can about the story.
Here are homework-fluency-instructions for help.
